Today was Graduation day for our big kids!  There was a lot of excited the morning for the big event.  Many of our graduating friends created journals depicting the anticipated graduation even this afternoon.

Happy Friday!

Today we celebrated our friend Dax turning 2 years old! We are so happy we got to share your special day with you.  Happy birthday and thank you for the yummy birthday snack!

Since it was Dax’s birthday, we engaged with the stacking cake.  This is an activity that our friends love.  They each have a cake layer and watch for when it is their turn for the size and number of the cake that they have in their hand to stack.  Once, it is all stacked, they knock it down and start building it all over again.

We then headed outside to climb, slide, sweep and build.

Breakfast: Whole grain brown rice cakes with cream cheese and bananas.

Lunch: Whole grain wheat bread with hummus, fresh cantaloupe, and red bell pepper slices.

Afternoon Snack: Strawberries with homemade whipped cream (Dax’s birthday treat) and sliced mild cheddar cheese.

Good afternoon!

This morning we played with a friend on our playmats, made music with xylophones, and used our imaginative play skills in the kitchen area.

We then made our way outside to play in the rock area. Emily and Arthur built and stacked with the blocks. Eliza and Ben used the ramps to push trucks down.

WF 07/19/2023

Happy Wednesday!

This morning William and Bo found a Wee Friend made book in the reading area from someone who had graduated.  Bo had the idea to create a book for the reading area as well.  William was quick to add that he too wanted to make a book.  We got to work right away making a book for each boy to start creating what they had in mind.  Bo articulated clearly that his was a comic book and that he wanted his art to be viewed that way by the reader:)

Outside today we found we have purple green beans coming in!  We had lots of helpers willing to help pick and taste them.  The consensus was that they tasted like green green beans.  We also had some of our first tomatoes ripen today which was a special treat!  Its wonderful how many young friends cannot wait to eat all these raw fresh veggies!

Good Afternoon!

This morning was a day for dressing up.  We all chose items from the dress-up items to wear.  Arthur worked his fine motor skills to work on his self-help skills to button his shirt.

We then headed outside to enjoy the beautiful weather this morning.  We engaged in digging and filling trucks with sand, drove the trucks around to paths and drew pictures with markers at the art table.

Breakfast:  Overnight Oatmeal with fresh apple slices.

Lunch:  Farm fresh scrambled eggs, fresh apple/pineapple, fresh carrot chips and whole grain wheat English muffin with peanut butter.

Afternoon Snack:  White corn chips and refried beans.

Good afternoon!

We had a very busy morning. We started our day by exploring the liquid squares with our feet. We also made music with shakers and bells.

We then made our way to the kitchen to engage with some playdough. We were given both an uncolored playdough piece and a red playdough piece to play with. Some of us chose to mix the pieces while others chose to play with them separately. We used a variety of tools to manipulate the playdough.

Outside, we rode our bikes down the hill, practiced our throwing skills in the grass area, and expressed our creativity at the art center.

We also welcomed our new friend, Eden, today! All of our friends were excited to greet her and talk to her.

WF 7/17/2023

Good afternoon!

It was a color mixing morning!

Today we explored freshly made yellow and blue playdough.  Several friends exclaimed “the play dough is still warm!” which added interest to their experience.  Everyone enjoyed the possibilities of using the two colors.  Some friends wanted to keep the colors separate so they could make multicolored creations. Others loved kneading and mixing the dough, delighted to see it turn green.  Adrian was especially interested in the color mixing side of things.  In addition to making green he also wanted to make blue/green and yellow lime green.  He enjoyed having a multitude of colors and hues.  Mixing the colors works well when the dough is squished, squeezed and rolled together.  This activity not only allows us to explore color science but also gives those fine motor muscles a great work out leading to strong hand writing skills later on.

We also enjoyed exploring open ended loose parts play opening our imaginations to unlimited possibilities!

Many of us experimented with rubber bands and peg boards allowing us to explore a multitude of geometric shapes.
