Good afternoon!

This morning we engaged with the object permanence boxes. We sorted the bean bags to their corresponding color blocks.

We also shared smiles with Miss Bekah while playing on her lap.

Our friends worked on connecting and stacking the waffle blocks. Dax connected them to make a super long path.

IMG_2522IMG_2521IMG_2523

We then made our way outside to ride the bikes, scoop rocks onto our truck, paint on the easel with watercolors, draw with chalk on the chalkboard, play with water bins, and watch our grass be mowed.

Happy Wednesday!

This morning friends explored a loose parts fine motor activity.  Many enjoyed simply the exercise and practice of moving objects with the tweezers.  Our older friends turned this activity into imaginative play, pretending they were making toast with different kinds of jams to sell to friends.  Adrian offered blue berry raspberry and lemon to interested customers.  These kinds of open ended activities allow all ages to get what they need where ever they are developmentally.  They also allows younger friends the opportunity to be exposed to the sophistication of our older friend’s play, stimulating further development.

Outside we mixed water tinted with primary paint colors for sensory and imaginative play as well as color experimentation.

The tomatoes were prolific in the garden and as popular as ever!  Our oldest friend Daniel has become official garden helper.  He has learned to examine the tomatoes for color and softness then to pick and distribute them evenly among waiting younger friends!  We will miss all of your excellent help Daniel!

Good afternoon Families,

Today while we were outside exploring the milkweed, we found a monarch caterpillar.  Luckily we happened to have a butterfly habitat in the basement to create a place to observe our caterpillar’s growth.  We filled the habitat with plenty of milkweed for the caterpillar to eat since we learned it is their only food.  Everyone was eager to have a look at our classroom guest.  We examined butterfly books and monarch life cycle cards.  We read a book about the monarch butterfly’s life cycle and migration at small group today,  so be sure to ask your child what they remember about Monarch butterflies!

This morning we explored kinetic sand and beads to see what kinds of creative ideas we could come up with during imaginative play.  We had several decorated cakes, dumplings and muffins.  We also had some little mosaics that made for some beautifully ephemeral art work.

We then headed outside to engage in waterplay, the sandbox with the dinosaurs, our baby dolls and riding bikes down the hill.  Eleanor enjoyed playing with her toys on the blanket. We all enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine.

Good afternoon!

Our babies were full of smiles and silliness today! Eleanor kept lifting her shirt to cover her eyes to play peek-a-boo with her friends. Eden shook her toy to hear the rattle inside and smiled at her teachers.

IMG_2303IMG_2350

We asked our friend Emily to choose the activity she wanted to do today and she said “dot markers!.” We made our way outside with Ms.Tina to paint with the markers under the shade. We all made wonderful art pieces with so many different colors!

IMG_2314IMG_2316IMG_2317IMG_2311IMG_2319
