Today we danced with the dancing scarves to Shake Your Sillies Out and acted our the See The Bunnies Sleeping song.

IMG_1110IMG_1112IMG_1113IMG_1129IMG_1122IMG_1133

We then headed into the kitchen to paint with rough sponges.  In addition to the sponges, several friends used their fingers to explore their paint and finger marks across their papers.   We used blue, red and yellow tempera paint and create new colors when mixing the colors together with our fingers or sponges.

Good afternoon!

This morning, we brought out the plastic color rings and played with them while listening to music! We spread them out onto the floor, and danced to Sleeping Bunnies together while a couple friends used the rings as necklaces.

IMG_0993IMG_0988IMG_0979IMG_0984IMG_0995

Then, we went into the kitchen to engage with our pegs and peg boards. We all were given a bowl of rainbow pegs and our choice of the shape of board. On our boards, we filled each hole and stacked the pegs! A couple friends did more than one board, and once the others were done, one friend gathered up the pegs into three bowls.

Once we were done with the pegs, we went over to the habitrail area and engaged with balls and the BounceBlocks. We worked on throwing and catching the ball with Miss Bekah. Once we were done with the balls, one friend grabbed our BounceBlocks  to make a stack to sit on while another stood on one at the balance beam.

Good Afternoon!

This morning we engaged in the housekeeping area.  A friend was using their imaginative skills to wash their hands at the sink, several friends were using the plates and bowls and picking items from the play food they would like to fill their plates with and eat it at the counter or at the circle table.

IMG_0867IMG_0877IMG_0879IMG_0876IMG_0881

We then headed into the kitchen to engage in kinetic sand and our big plastic bugs in a tuff tray.  We also added bowls and shovels for us to use as well.  We explored the sand in our hands to feel the different texture from our sand outside.  A friend pushed it into their bowl to make a mold of it.

Good Afternoon!

This morning we had a discussion about “plumbing systems” as a friend coming into school talked about a a plumber needing to fix pipes at his house.  We created an activity to explore the movement of rice through a pipe system in order to process this idea further.  We added rice to the funnels and watched to see where and how the rice came out.  It took some thinking about the shapes of the elbows in the pipes and where the end of the tunnel was to figure it out.  Many kids enjoyed trying to place a cup in order to catch the rice when it came out of the pipe.  Older enjoyed moving the pipes around and testing what would happen with different bends and angles.  This activity helped to developed creative problem solving and critical thinking skills as kids explored.

Good Afternoon!

We kicked off our Tuesday by completing PREK1 sign in. Each group member came to the board where they counted the items in two groups, looking to identify the group that had six items. Once a child determined which group had six, they wrote their name under that group.

Later on in PREK1 group, we read a book from our MACK collection titled, ‘Tortoise and Hare’. Before we went to journal, we started talking about the term ‘syllable’. We used our hands to count the syllables in each of our names!

K.NS.4: Perform one to one correspondence tasks.

K.RF.3.2: Orally segments words into syllables.

IMG_9907IMG_9903IMG_9912

This morning we combined a child led request with some curriculum.  We had a suggestion to play Grocery Store at the round table.  Since we had planned to work with counting groups, the suggestion was perfect.  We played both store keepers and customers.  If we had a store we practiced counting out how many fruits a customer asked for.  If we were the customer, we asked for a number of fruits and then counted our money to pay for it.

IMG_9180IMG_9193IMG_9209IMG_9212IMG_9200

PREK2: During group we read “I Can Handle It” which gives examples of scenarios where the character thinks of ways to solve his own problems.  After the story, we were given a card with a number on it.  We identified the number or got some help, then we put that number of stickers on our name, which we found on the board.
