Good Afternoon and Happy Monday!

“Development can only take place when children are actively involved, when they are occupied with a high, non stop degree of concentration, when they are interested, when they give themselves completely, when they use all their (mental) abilities to invent and make new things and when this gives them a high degree of satisfaction and pleasure. ~Ferre Laevers

We began our day utilizing our fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills by working on many different styles of puzzles with different amounts of difficulty. We all had a wonderful time.

During our time outside we spent quite a bit of time searching for bugs. With the wetness of the play area they were wiggling all around.

Friends love searching for all sorts of bugs to place in their bug catchers so we can explore them and watch them try to get out of the catcher.

Happy Monday!

**Reminder: Wee Friends will be closed on Monday, May 27th.

This week, our FAB focuses on money and what it’s used for as well as identifying coins. We put all of that together during K/PREK1 time.

After reading ‘Makeup Mess’ by Robert Munsch, which centers around the main character buying makeup with her money stash, we used our coin knowledge to identify each coin that was on the chalkboard. After we identified each coin, we worked together to add the coins together.

Lucy and Maxwell had completed a similar activity during their kindergarten sign in so they took the reigns during group time and shared how to add the coin values together.

Social Studies: K.4.1 Explain that people work to earn money to buy the things they want. Introduce money names and values.

PREK2 group shopped at the ‘Pinkalicious Store’ after reading the matching book! Each item was worth a specific amount of money. As a group, they read the values together and had to decide where each coin went.

We were anxious to get working on our starters! We’ll hopefully plant them in the next couple of weeks.

We’ve found that when one friend requests a puzzle, several other peers show interest and follow suit.

Mack completed a 24 piece puzzle and shared, “I finished it! It’s ‘cause I’m getting bigger.”

Friends LOVE a good challenge.

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week.

“Just because I can’t talk doesn’t mean I have nothing to say.” ~Reggio

Today teachers re-introduced the moon sand into our sensory bin and the kids were so excited. They couldn’t wait to get digging, scooping, and pouring!

We added in spoons, cups, measuring cups, bowls, and a few more fun items to enhance the joy of our play! It’s a messy but FUN activity. Smile We love messes… that just means we are enjoying our play to the fullest.

While some of us were still engaged in the moon sand Miss Rebekah made a tape track for our cars and trucks.

Jack lined all of his cars up in a row and then decided to park them in certain spots. While Zoe and another friend zoomed them along the track.

Happy Friday!

Our friends seek connections at almost every turn. Whether it’s realizing that they have the same boots, live in the same city, or shop at the same grocery store, simple connections are made every day.

We’ve driven to the farm multiple times and pass Martin’s every single time. During every single trip, friends have the same conversation:

“Hey, that’s my Martin’s!”

“Hey! That’s my Martin’s too!”

Enjoy a short Teacher Tom blog post about this topic!

Good Afternoon All.

“The wider range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences.” ~Loris Malaguzzi

Please Note: I am very sorry for the inconvenience, but there will be no link to the photo album today as we are experiencing some issues. We hope that the problem will soon be resolved. Thank you for your understanding and patience on this matter.

Miss Annastecia offered our friends a really neat and exciting art activity this morning and we LOVED it. We first took water color paint and painted our trays, then lay down a piece of white paper and patted it down into the water color. We then had our finished product of Rainy Window Prints. You can find your child’s creation hanging around the classroom.

Good Afternoon.

Friends have really been enjoying the sing a long teacher stories.

We have been reading/singing along to… Shoo fly don’t bother me, Row Row Your Boat, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Wheels on the Bus and more! Adding in singing to our story times always makes for a great time, and teachers LOVE to hear and see the enthusiasm and excitement in the children’s voices and faces when they sing along. Smile

Good Afternoon!

“Times have changed. But children haven’t. Young kids are on the same evolutionary path they’ve always been on. It’s our expectations that are off. We’re trying to make children ready for the next stage of life before natural development allows them to be ready. It’s like expecting ten-year-old’s to drive a car safely, or expecting a four-month-old to walk.”
