Good Afternoon!

**Today, a child was sent home with a fever (over 101). There were no other noticeable symptoms at that time.

Friends started off their morning by cooking up some pancakes. Saskia held up a rolling pin and asked, “What’s this?” It was explained to her that it was a rolling pin and a few examples were given as to how a rolling pin was used such as pancakes and bread.

Music was turned on this morning. A child requested scarves to go along with the music. Nahla and Lucy swirled their scarves around throughout the air.

Maya was attempting to master the ladder this morning while Tate took a little rest on the slide. It’s always great when friends can move their bodies throughout the environment.

For breakfast, children had cheerios and banana. Lunch consisted of hummus on tortillas, cucumbers, and pears. PM snack was pretzels with cream cheese.

Have a terrific night!

WF Wednesday 12/3 16 Movin’ and Groovin’

052

16 Friends have gathered today

With 16 sets of words to say.

16 thoughts and 16 ideas,

16 laughs and 16 tears.

16 questions and 16 “Why?”’s,

16 “I got it!”’s and 16 tries.

16 measurements and 16 scissor snips

16 snowflakes and only 1 scratched lip.

16 books and parties serving tea,

16 hugs and one or two “Please?”.

16 airplanes and 16 train tracks,

16 sneezes and 16 (at least) Nosey Snacks.

We move it and groove it as we learn each day.

We keep it hopping so  we can learn to say:

“I got it! Look what I did! You are my friend!

Thank you!”or  “I’m reading!” or “Can I share your [marker]?”

We move it and groove it, it’s just the Wee way.

We are heading outside now. Enjoy your day.

Good Afternoon!

We were full on sensory mode this morning. Children worked with green, white, and red paint with sparkles! Friends loved looking at the different colors on their brush.

IMG_2405IMG_2404

Nahla and Lucy were vocal when they wanted a different color or a new piece of paper. They took charge of their sensory experience.

IMG_2412IMG_2413

Tate took his brush and pressed it down on the paper to get all of the paint off his brush. Rosemary used her time as more of a sensory experience. She took the brush and used her fingers to feel the paint.

It’s not about the product. It’s about the process.

For breakfast, children had Kashi and oranges. Lunch consisted of refried beans on tortillas, watermelon, and cherry tomatoes. PM snack was cheddar cheese slices and whole wheat bunny crackers.

Have a fantastic night!

WF Tuesday 12/2

Today friends were engaged in a number of enriching activities. While some of our friends were at swimming lessons, we played number bingo. We took turns rolling a die, counting the dots, and marking our sheets. The first person to roll numbers 1-6 won!

Next, friends experimented with baking soda and colored vinegar. What happens when you combine these two substances? Fizz and bubbles! We explored squeezing droppers, combining different colors, and feeling the substance with our hands.

Happy December!

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

**Since we are only three weeks away (WOW!), here’s a reminder that WWF will be closed starting Monday, December 22nd and we’ll reopen Monday, January 5th.

Friends got back into the routine after being gone for a long weekend. We were very into reading books sporadically throughout the morning.

IMG_2383IMG_2382IMG_2378

We moved our bodies around the gross motor area. A couple children took it upon themselves to stand on the colored blocks and jump as high as they could off of them. Friends started running around the habitrail and then gliding down the slide as fast as possible.

For breakfast, children had cinnamon raisin bagels with butter and banana. Lunch consisted of whole grain noodles with chicken, oranges, and broccoli. PM snack was apples and string cheese.

Monday 12/1 Do You Wanna Build A………..

Welcome back to Wee Friends! For your December calendars, our Christmas Break is Monday Dec. 22 –Friday, January 2. We return Monday, January 5th. We spent our morning building: blocks, stories (both with books and music), calendars with sequential numbers, number grids, Christmas ornaments, Go Go Jumps, paper chains (Countdown to Christmas), understanding and trust (“Don’t sit there! You can’t trust that we won’t fall on you” shared a friend. “You hurt your friend’s body when you threw a block. Let’s talk to your friend, choose another place to play and return in just a moment.” expressed a teacher), muscles (Blue Bus), puzzles, car tracks,  Minnie’s house with spheres and rods and more. Wee build.

Have a terrific Monday.

WF Friday 11/26

The Many Creations of Wee Friends

                         018

Today friends spent lots of time creating. Using ALL of the blocks, bins and baskets they could find, friends built a massive house/fort.  They even did a great job of cleaning up afterwards.

                                                             025

Elliott wanted to make a paper boat like his dad does at home. Although he couldn’t remember how his dad folded the paper, we looked up origami boat directions online and created this!

                                           020

Sophie hard at work on her drawing.

                                            026

Elizabeth created her very own calendar from an old check book. She diligently wrote each of the months on a separate page. This work naturally generated a conversation about the 12 months and how they make up a year. Elizabeth was surprised to learn she has lived through five Januarys!

Following friends interests leads to exciting opportunities for learning. It is such a joy to see where their growing minds take creative projects. We are very thankful for our Wee Frienders and their families this Thanksgiving!

Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
