Hello!

This morning, Lulu serenaded us with her version of, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” which then proceeded to lead into the “ABC’s”. You could hear friends throughout the room following her lead Smile.

Maya waved a BIG hello to her sister Eve next door this morning!

IMG_2281IMG_2282

Not only did Anna enjoy some floor time (she’s rocking out the tummy time!) but she also saw her brother Owen outside. Two thumbs up.

IMG_2296IMG_2358

This mornings sensory activity was tempera paint.

IMG_2299IMG_2305

Our tempera paint activity resulted in an exploration about tap. We learned:

1. It’s very sticky.

2. After you play with it enough, it ends up being a ball.

3. When you stick it in your hair, you might have a hard time getting it out . (ouch)

Have a terrific evening!

Good Afternoon!

Since it was such a beautiful day, we tried to get as much outside time as possible!

IMG_2185IMG_2186

Naia was a big help this morning. She helped the older kids shuck the corn that Wee friends had for lunch!

IMG_2191IMG_2193

Saskia and Lulu worked up a sweat as they ran around outside.

IMG_2210IMG_2207

With all of our friends being up this afternoon, we were all able to go outside!

IMG_2233IMG_2234

Sibling love was all around us. Eve said, “I love playing with Maya all day long!” The younger sibling as well as the older sibling are always so excited to see one another outside. Even though they’re not in the same house, they’re able to interact throughout the day Smile.

IMG_2266IMG_2255

For breakfast, children had eggs with cheese and strawberries. Lunch consisted of tortillas with hummus, PPC plums, and corn. PM snack was string cheese and PPC honeydew melon.

A BIG welcome back from vacation! Hope everyone enjoyed their time home or on a vacation.

We were all smiles today as friends came in the door. Well ok..maybe not all smiles. It’s hard to leave Mommy and Daddy after spending a whole week with them! We sure do love our parents! As with anything in life, we had to get back into the swing of things.

IMG_2148IMG_2155IMG_2173

Friends headed outside this morning. Saskia enjoyed playing in the house while Naia covered her legs with sand.

IMG_2087IMG_2100IMG_2095

While our older friends napped, Lucy, Tate, and Maya had playtime in the gross motor area. We loved putting the rings on our head and then taking them off. Tate manipulated the colored blocks, flipping them over on their side to see what else he could do with the block.

IMG_2107IMG_2108IMG_2117

With the torrential downpour this afternoon, we stayed inside and got out a few sensory activities. Naia and Saskia worked with birdseed. They both enjoyed getting birdseed into a cup and then pouring it into a bowl. The movement of the birdseed made for nice background noise with the rain!

IMG_2166IMG_2170

For breakfast, children had toast with soy butter and banana. Lunch consisted of whole grain noodles with kidney beans, cantaloupe, and peas. PM snack was animal crackers and cheddar block cheese.

Have a lovely night!

WF 7/14/14…Well, that didn’t work!

Welcome Back!!! We started our morning exploring our “sheets” of paper that we made right before break out of sawdust, water and the blender.  Despite following the directions carefully, the paper experiment failed.  We all discussed why it “didn’t work” and then moved right into other ways to use our colored sawdust.  After some thought, it turned into an paint exploration! 012014

Over break, Eleanor turned 5 years old!  HOORAY,  Ellie!

Today is Owen 4th Birthday!  He was excited to meet the age milestone of 4 years old to use the workshop tools, real wood and real nails.

Good Afternoon!

Yesterday, Lulu and Miss Mindy took a walk around the neighborhood. We saw a lot of trees that had fallen! Lulu talked about the rain and the storm that occurred the night before. Today, we saw efforts to clean up the mess that the storm left behind. We’re so glad that none of our neighbors were hurt and that clean up is under way!

IMG_2076IMG_2077

While her younger friends took their naps this morning, Lulu worked with sensory rice in the kitchen. She practiced pouring and dumping along with scooping and filling. One of the cups had holes in the bottom. Lulu quickly found out that when she put the rice mixture into the cup, it slowly fell out from the bottom!

IMG_2017

When we headed outside, Lulu ran shouting, “Bicycles!”

IMG_2021IMG_2022

Maya and Tate played with cars and little people this afternoon. Maya tried her hardest to get her little person into the car seat.

IMG_2045IMG_2063

For breakfast, we had cinnamon toast squares and strawberries. Lunch consisted of hummus on tortillas, pears, and broccoli. PM snack was peas and blueberries/grapes.

Hope everyone has a fantastic summer vacation! We’ll see you back here on July 14th Smile.

Trees

Trees are the kindest things I know
They do no harm, they simply grow
And spread a shade for sleepy cows
And gather birds among their boughs.

Trees give us fruit in leaves above,
And wood to make our houses of.
Leaves to burn on Hallowee’en,
And in the Spring new buds of green.
Trees are the kindest things I know.

Enjoy pictures of our tree walk! We filled our bag and minds with objects and images of standing and fallen trees. We saw exposed roots and deep holes where trees had been. We counted wounded trees and recorded numbers and other observations on our clipboard.

Breakfast: Peanut butter toast and blueberries. Lunch: Ham sandwiches on whole wheat bread, Baby Spinach with Yogurt Ranch dressing and grapes/blueberries. Snack: Hardboiled eggs and orange slices.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a terrific weekend!

**Just a reminder that we have a short week this week. WWF will be closed July 3rd through July 11th for summer break.

Maya and Naia sat together and worked with each other to try and build a tall tower. Maya handed Naia the blocks so that she could stack them one by one. This showed great team work! When the tower fell down, they started building another one.

Even with the age difference between the two friends, they enjoyed playing and learning from one another.

IMG_1976IMG_1978

Anna is becoming more aware of her surrounds and friends. She’s beginning to flash us smiles quite often Smile. Lulu and her friends are becoming very attached to our new friend often asking, “Where’s Anna?” (when she’s napping). It’s always a good refresher when we have a tiny baby like Miss Anna! We remember what we can do with the baby and what we can’t do.

IMG_1993IMG_1979

We took some awesome naps today. It’s wonderful when our friends are able to rest their bodies and get such great naps! Our friends were totally refreshed this afternoon. Smile

IMG_1973IMG_1974

For breakfast, children had toast with butter and raisins. Lunch consisted of whole grain noodles with turkey, broccoli, and applesauce. PM snack was fresh PPC strawberries and thin cakes with cream cheese.

Have a good evening!
