HAPPY SPRING!

044

What a gift to be outside today! While the Blue Bus rotated friends, we jumped into Literacy FAB K.1.19: Learn and apply knowledge of alphabetical order. First, a small group of preschoolers created alphabet bookmarks, placed them inside books and put the books in order.

Mel played a game in which she invited friends to pick an alphabet card and hunt around the classroom for an object whose name started with the letter they had.

025

They also studied which uppercase and lowercase letters look the same.

026

When our friends shared that they were in a ship, we added ship music. And then the requests came in: “Sleeping Beauty!”, “Shake!” and of course “Let It Go!”. We ended our music and movement by belting out “Let it go!” at the top of our lungs. It felt good.

Hope you’re able to let it go and get outside today! –Laurie

Wee Sprouts: Carrots. Breakfast: Cereal and bananas. Lunch: Whole wheat pasta with marinara and Mozzarella, orange slices and cucumbers. Snack: Pear slices and string cheese.

Happy Friday!

Here are a few pictures taken throughout the day! We had a wonderful end to the week. Friends loved crawling in and out of the tunnel which was requested by Lulu! Shaving cream up a hit especially when we added a little tempera paint into the mix. Not only was it fun to play with but the designs we made were beautiful!

Tate and Maya both became members of the chair climbing club today Smile. Both were pretty pleased with themselves!

And what better way to celebrate my 29th bday, being a part of it all? Not to mention the taste of home that greeted me in the way of AUTHENTIC TEXAS TACOS!!!! Thank you Langenkamp/Jackson Family, my fabulous Wee Family and all the Wee peeps who sure know how to teach me about learning to laugh!

Good Afternoon!

It was a birdseed and rice kind of morning! Eren, Lulu, and Saskia sat in the kitchen with their own bins. After adding toys into the mixture, we got that sensorial feeling! We loved the mixture on our hands. Friends worked through it along with scooping and pouring the mixture back into the bin.

IMG_7252IMG_7257

Lulu loved filling her cup up and dumping it out. It made a pretty sound!

IMG_7260IMG_7267IMG_7277

Habitrail play, books, and music filled our day.

IMG_7282IMG_7295IMG_7290

WF Thursday 3/27

005

Wee Friends alumna, Annie Cummings, is spending the day with us! She shared with Wee Friends what her kindergarten class is like. She also led a large group exploration as friends explored more “w” words to add to our wishing well.

017

Melinda gathered friends around the piano and, as we watched the rain fall outside, she played different vocalizes that reminded friends of rain falling down (descending notes) and the sun coming up (ascending notes). Then she jumped into familiar Wee repertoire and friends danced joyfully!

028

We got outside this morning and got wet, muddy and surprisingly cold! We came inside to a warm delicious lunch. It was a treat to have Annie here today. Our Wee Friends look up to her and so enjoy hearing stories of what’s ahead of them. Of particular interest was “What do you eat at school?”. We love you Annie!

Wee Sprouts: Broccoli. Breakfast: Oatmeal with raisins. Lunch: Egg casserole with whole grain flat bread, corn/green beans and banana/oranges. Snack: Peanut butter and rice cakes

Happy Wednesday!

Water Wednesday was a blast! Friends put on their smocks as they headed to the sink! With warm water and soap, we splashed and made bubbles. We took turns playing with baby dolls, sponges, and ducks.

IMG_7140IMG_7151IMG_7161

We loved getting wet! It was a great sensorial aspect of our day Smile.

IMG_7165IMG_7182IMG_7191

After water play, we requested that teacher books be read. All of us have our favorite books that we like to read. Today, friends enjoyed “I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More!”

IMG_7196IMG_7197

Maya and Tate crawled in and out of the cube and continued this in a circular motion. Lucy spun the wheel of the fire truck that was in a book. We espeically love books that are interactive.

IMG_7216IMG_7222IMG_7245

IMG_7228IMG_7248

For breakfast, children had oatmeal and pears. Lunch consisted of avocado chicken salad sandwiches, pears, and mixed vegetables. PM snack was plain yogurt with graham crackers.

Have a lovely evening!

Wednesday 3/26 Let It Go

004

This morning, Zoi was skipping through the classroom belting out “Let It Go” from the new Disney mega hit Frozen. We put the song on, and suddenly, everywhere we looked friends were singing along. Wherever they were and whatever they were doing, the song became their imaginative work. They didn’t miss a beat.

011012017

And then we played it again and again, reveling in the pure joy that filled our classroom. It was like being a part of a preschool music video.

We offered friends materials to explore the letters of their name. We talked about the letter “W”.

003

We created a wishing well and filled it with wishes and “w” words.

031

We let it go and we let it flow….

052

We gathered friends to create body letters. We started with the rockin’ tune “YMCA” (where they swim) and then offered friends scrabble letters. They chose a letter and a group of friends (who acted as Play-Do) and created that letter.

061

Let it go! Let it go! We can’t hold back anymore!

Have a great day. –Laurie

Wee Sprouts: Radishes. Breakfast: Cheesy scrambled eggs and bananas. Lunch: Chicken/avocado salad on whole wheat bread, pear slices and lima beans. Snack: String cheese and raisins.

Hello!

Nora, Lulu, Saskia, and Eren used tempera paint this morning. Friends used different sized brushes so the strokes would vary in size.

IMG_6984IMG_7018

As Nora focused intently on her painting (with her tongue sticking out Smile), she let her friends and teachers know that she was painting a boy!

IMG_7005IMG_7000

Eren made a nice big, blue heart that he slowly painted. Afterwards, he went in the direction of animals. Specifically, a lion!

IMG_6989IMG_6986

IMG_6998IMG_6993

Before lunchtime, an obstacle course was set up. First, friends had to walk up the stairs followed with sliding down the slide. Four different blocks were set up for friends to follow and walk on. Not only did it work on our balance and coordination but we really had to work hard at following directions and where to go next!

IMG_7036IMG_7037

IMG_7044IMG_7042IMG_7050

Big people food is a wonderful thing. Our baby friends are loving the independence aspect of feeding themselves along with how good the food tastes. Not only is the variety a great thing for us but we’re really working on using our fine motor skills. We are also enjoying using our own sippy cup!

IMG_7054IMG_7055

IMG_7063IMG_7059IMG_7064

For breakfast, children had eggs with cheese along with oranges. Lunch consisted of cheese and ham tortillas, corn, and strawberries (YUM!). PM snack was rice cakes with cream cheese and raisins.

IMG_7081IMG_7098IMG_7137

Have a great evening!

WF 3/25

014

When we heard Leo shout “An “L” for my name!” we raced to table to find three Wee-est friends (and then others) finding the letters that made their names and friend’s (or sister’s)names!

016

SO EXCITING for Wee Friends AND the teachers! Older friends used plastic farm animals to sort and create patters with.

018

Every time we offer our friends Elmer’s Glue, we ask the question: “Why hasn’t someone figured out a way to make these work?” Despite glue bottles that get clogged and icky, friends LOVE to work at squeezing the bottles and creating art with glue.

036

Have a terrific day! – Laurie

Wee Sprouts: Carrots. Breakfast: whole wheat bagels and bananas. Lunch: Melted ham and cheese on tortillas, corn and apple/bananas. Snack: Whole milk yogurt and fresh strawberries.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

**Parents—please read the pink notice on the front door pertaining to our outside policy.

**We WILL be going outside soon. Most of the snow in backyard has melted. Of course, they’re calling for more snow tonight but hopefully that will melt quickly. Please make sure by TOMORROW that your child comes to school with snow pants (since it’s still cold outside), a hat, boots, and gloves. We want to make sure that all children have the opportunity to go outside and that we’re all warm enough! Thanks! Smile

As we welcomed friends back to school, they jumped right into play! We sat together and played with a variety of blocks. Henri also enjoyed working with the train tracks.

IMG_6846IMG_6844

Eren and Nora worked with their numbers and fine motor skills as they carefully placed the pegs into the number board. Nora gave Eren one of her pegs and he responded with, “Oh thank you Nora!!”

IMG_6848IMG_6850IMG_6849

Lulu and Saskia joined the party in the kitchen to work with pegs and foam boards. We talked about different colors and the shapes of the foam boards.

IMG_6854IMG_6859

Eren and Nora built with the pegs upwards. They counted how many pegs they had.

IMG_6861IMG_6870IMG_6867

Today, Saskia tried climbing the ladder all by herself! She needed some help at the top but her initiative was great!

IMG_6881IMG_6887

We stirred it up in the kitchen making some wonderful food! We made sure to stir the pancake batter before we made the pancakes.

IMG_6898IMG_6903

IMG_6905IMG_6907

We were full of smiles this Monday Smile Smile.

IMG_6910IMG_6911IMG_6915

Maya had a clear goal this afternoon. When her older friends were sleeping, she decided to play catch with Miss Sam. Maya got the ball and threw it to Sam. They played catch for ten to fifteen minutes. Maya had a clear intention to play catch and she was so happy with herself! She loved retrieving the ball Smile.

IMG_6933IMG_6952IMG_6939

For breakfast, children had toast with cinnamon along with pears. Lunch consisted of noodles with kidney beans, apples, avocado, and broccoli. PM snack was whole wheat crackers and cheddar cheese.

Have a wonderful night!
