It has been a great week at WWF! We have spent a lot of time outside harvesting our garden, tending to our flowers, and when the weather permitted, water play. We also responded to many fires wearing our new fire hats.
Our new book, “Sam the Fireman,” has really kept our interest. Beware of the monkeys jumping on the bed, as we have been dancing non-stop to “Five Little Monkeys,” and our slow-fast song.
Be sure to mark your calendar for our annual vacation which begins next Friday!
This week both Paulina and Tami were out on vacation so we were not able to blog daily. Lisa wrote this blog for Monday before she realized that I wouldn’t be able to post….Our rainy day activities have been keeping us busy, and we sure got our week off to a great start. We worked with our scissors learning how to open and close them and cut paper. Painting was also a great activity as we are learning how to dip our brush in the water after using a color. This afternoon our dramatic play came alive as we were a princess, ballerina, and puppy dog. For lunch today we had chicken melts on whole wheat muffins with avacado, peas, and cantaloupe. Alma helped Miss Lisa prepare for our lunch. Wishing you all a great week!
Enjoy your family time this weekend!
Regards, Lisa, Amy, Marty and Paulina

But the green pea part was yummy!

Questions such as “What will happen if we fold our creation over?”, “What happens if we hang it up?” were raised. They discussed the concept of smooth/rough. For Part Two, Melinda put a variety of different types of sticky tape on the table. Friends created 2d and 3d art.

cheesy body melts. Some friends even took a bite!
Melinda unearthed an insect matching/sorting game. Friends dug into the plastic insects and sorted them onto a corresponding card by color and type.

Today at Wee Friends, we enjoyed lots of small group activities while the tumblers were away. While the first group was gone, Tami read a long series of board books to the younger children. While reading, we had many conversations about colors, numbers, shapes, and picture identification. After that, the same group of children experimented with rhythm with their bodies and some shakers. Melinda worked with the children in small groups to finish and wrap their Father’s Day creations. Please remember to take them home from your child’s cubby.
