Kids enjoyed spending the morning outside! We offered a “pounded chalk drawing” activity at the outdoor art center this morning. Kids used black paper and hammers to smash the chalk and create images. Kids noticed they were accumulating a lot of chalk dust. They asked about making paint, which they really enjoyed doing before. Each child collected their chalk dust when they were done, then mixed it with water to make chalk paint. Lots of kids chose to paint their name or write letters. Others were curious about painting objects like rocks and leaves. All these ideas were great for their developing creative thinking skills.
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures.
