Happy Wednesday!

In pre-k/k group, read we ‘Smelly Socks’ written by Robert Munsch. In the story, the main character is on the search for new socks so this lead us to talk about what we need to have when we want to buy something. Everyone responded, “MONEY!”.

After we finished reading the story, we looked at the pictures that were on the chalkboard. The first question I asked was, “Which item do you think costs the most?!”. We had a discussion and children were debating between a car and a house. We came to the conclusion that there are some instances where a car can cost more than a house depending on the circumstance. However, we came to the conclusion that the house picture most likely cost more than the car. We went on from there, debating which item cost what dollar amount.

When we were done, a pre-k/k group member asked, “So if ice cream costs $3 but I want 3, how much would that be?”. Without prompting, addition was brought into our group time!

The art easel was open as children took turns painting on paper. They used a variety of paint brush sizes as well as paint colors.

We read books in group, to our animal friends, and by ourselves this morning. Our older friends pointed out letters that they recognized as well as sounds that they heard.

Other activities that we explored were building with a variety of blocks including small wooden blocks and creating at the wood working bench. Maxwell used large wood as well as small wooden shapes to make his creation before he painted it at the art table.
