Happy Monday!
After reading ‘The Magic Hat’ in K/PREK1, children used Easter eggs to complete the sentences on the chalkboard. Each child came up to the chalkboard and picked an egg. They opened it and I read aloud the words (nouns) that were on the paper. I asked them what kind of word it was such as a body part or food. They chose what type of noun it was and taped it onto the correct sentence.
I read the sentence using both types of nouns; singular and plural. After I read the sentence both ways, they decided which word sounded right. They took a marker and circled the correct noun.
K.W.6.1a: Nouns/Pronouns– Writing sentences that include singular and/or plural nouns (e.g., dog/dogs, cat/cats).
In PREK2, eggs were incorporated as well! Each friend picked one egg and opened it. They identified the letter that was in their egg and after every child had opened an egg, they put the letters into the correct order.
