Happy Monday!
This week, we’ll be focusing on plants and animals and today, our focus in K/PREK1 was solely on plants. After reading ‘The Tiny Seed’ which goes through the cycle of how a plant starts, we identified four parts of a flower.
I had six flowers printed out and using our background knowledge, children were able to identify most of the flowers! They also used their knowledge of letter sounds to help match the flower to the name. For instance, the first flower I held up was a rose. After friends identified it as a rose, we looked for a word that started with that sound.
Science: K.4.1 Give example of plants and animals.
In PREK2, children talked about the different parts of a plant as well as parts of a bunny! They discussed the differences that each item had along with any possible similarities.
