Good Afternoon!

Zoom is one of our favorite Robert Munsch stories. During our K/PREK1 group time, we read Zoom and discussed important events that occurred. The main character, Lauretta, goes through the process of getting a new wheelchair. She tests out wheelchairs with different speeds. They each end up being too slow!

After the story was finished, we created a web with other ‘action’ or ‘motion’ words that we know. “Well, slow and fast are the opposite of each other!”, shared a friend as we jotted down each thought.

Science: K.3.2 Investigate that things move in different ways, such as fast, slow, etc.

PREK2 children categorized animals into two groups: fast and slow. Each animal was discussed, specifically how fast or slow they move.

“Allowing children to have significant input into the selection of activities has beneficial consequences. Besides allowing them to focus on what is most important and rewarding to them, it also conveys the idea they’re capable of doing things that positively affect their lives.”
