Good Afternoon!

After reading ‘The Very Clumsy Click Beetle’ by Eric Carle in K/PREK1, N raised her hand and shared, “That book said the same thing over and over. Kind of like a pattern.”

N noticed that there was a pattern in the way that the author shared the story. Several times, the author wrote ‘And with a loud click…it flipped through the air.” The click beetle’s goal was to flip through the air and land on it’s feet but after many attempts, the beetle kept landing on its back.

Once we finished discussing the story and completed calendar, each child was asked to roll up their mat AFTER giving me a pattern of their own. The patterns that children shared were:

Penny: unicorn, heart, love, unicorn, heart, love

Grady: ice cream, soup, ice cream, soup

David: ice cream, popsicle, ice cream, popsicle

Chloe: hot, cold, hot, cold

N: cat, bat, cat, bat (Grady shared, “N did rhyming words too!”)

K.CA.5: Create, extend, and give an appropriate rule for simple repeating and growing patterns with numbers and shapes.

Jack and Cassie helped Miss Kim make homemade pancakes for lunch! They helped measure the ingredients while other peers were at the art table, creating spooky Halloween drawings with stories to go along with it!
