Good Afternoon!
We read ‘What Do You Do With An Idea?’ in K/PREK1 group this afternoon. The book focuses on ‘ideas’ and the process people go through to make it a reality. Before we started reading the story, Penny commented, “An idea is something you want to do.”
Throughout the story, the author talked about how one should treat an idea and even used the phrase, “Feed it good food”. Grady asked, “But how can the idea eat food?! It doesn’t have a mouth.”
This brought up a conversation surrounding fiction stories and how the information and even characters in fiction stories aren’t real. Penny said, “You can’t even see an idea. You can see it in your mind.”
After we finished the story, we thought of four different ideas we may try to implement next week if the weather cooperates. Each child got one vote for which idea they liked the best and together we graphed the results.
Looks like we’ll be trying to go on a nature walk!
K.W.5: With support, build understanding of a topic using various sources. (Identify relevant pictures, charts, grade- appropriate texts, personal experiences, or people as sources)
In PREK2, children used ice cube trays and puff balls to finish several patterns that Miss Kim started.
Rainbows and shields (made for the teachers to protect us..of course!).
Fresh air and movement.
These things consumed our morning, fulfilling our bodies and minds.
