Happy Friday!
We read, ‘Miss Nelson Is Missing’ in K/PREK1 and afterwards, children got to choose one shape from my hand. They had to decide where the shape went to complete a specific pattern. Once they completed the pattern, they said the pattern aloud: “rectangle, rectangle, oval, triangle, rectangle, rectangle, oval, triangle”.
K.CA.5: Create, extend, and give an appropriate rule for simple repeating and growing patterns with numbers and shapes.
In PREK2, children used a number line and die to practice addition and subtraction. For example, Sophia rolled a 4 and she moved her piece to the 4. Then, another friend rolled a 2 so they added 2 to the 4 and moved the piece to 6.
There were several conversations today about practicing. We had conversations about practicing to go down the pole in habitrail. We had conversations about practicing our lower case letters. If you want to become good at something, practice is important!
“Teacher Tom, I know how to pump myself on the swings now!”
“I’m happy to hear that.”
“I still have to practice it a lot.”
“That’s how you get good at things.”
