Good Afternoon!
K/PREK1 had a poetry day where we read different poems from ‘Be Glad Your Nose Is On Your Face’. Afterwards, we got on the topic of counting to 100, which lead into each friend counting to 100, 101, and 110 respectively. We’ve been working on counting by 10’s and today, friends focused on counting by 1’s in several aspects of their play.
K.NS.1: Count up to at least 100 by ones and tens.
In PREK2, children explored a St. Patrick’s Day activity where they worked with dice and a pot of gold! Throughout the activity, children demonstrated their understanding of simple addition and subtraction.
To start their day, Grady and Sophia worked with the colored bears. First, they placed them in specific spaces all around the lazy Susan. They created a circular display of bears before breaking it apart and counting the groups of bears based on color.
Snuggles and stories are a part of our every day life. But, for Evie and a peer, the stories they’re reading are making their way into their play!
They’ve been interested in the Lion King lately so we read it this morning and then they went off to go play. As they created their own game in habitrail, they became Scar and the hyenas, “because they’re bad guys!”
They used characteristics and even phrases that they heard in the book and transferred it into their play experience.
Breakfast– Kix and fresh strawberries.
Lunch– Melted shredded cheese on whole wheat flatbread, fresh cantaloupe, and fresh green beans.
PM snack– Whole wheat bagel with cream cheese and string cheese.
Wee Sprout– Fresh green beans.
Have a wonderful evening.
