Good Afternoon!
In K/PREK1 group, we read a few pages in ‘Here and There’, a book that dives into different cultures and ways of life in various countries. Today, we focused strictly on grocery stores and how they look different depending on where you live.
After reading the first page, we made a list of the grocery stores around us that we know of. I asked Grady and David how their family got groceries while they were home and they shared the store that their family shops at the most. David shared, “Oh that one store where I get donuts…Rise N’Roll!!” This started a conversation about the differences between restaurants and grocery stores.
Did you know?
In Indonesia, they have ‘floating markets’ on the river where people sell fruit, veggies, and flowers that they have grown!
Social Studies: K.4.2 Identify and describe different kinds of jobs that people do and the tools they use.
In PREK2, a list was started that focused on the tools that different workers use to do their job. Today, they focused on a chef and the tools needed to do his or her job!
Several friends joined Miss Annastecia’s yoga session and were fantastic demonstrators! Many children are interested in the Lion King and the characters that are in the story so Miss Annastecia chose to read a lion story which paired well with lion yoga posses!
The interest in lions also lead into an art activity this morning where children used various manipulatives to make their own lion mask! They all looked very different and unique!
We hope everyone enjoyed their Tuesday!
