Good Afternoon!
Everyday during K/PREK1 group, we complete our calendar activity before journaling. We identify the month, day, and year before crossing off the current day. One of our favorite things to do is count how many days until the weekend or a birthday that may be coming up.
Today, we created our own May calendar and filled in some things that were missing such as the month, year, and the days of the week.
We also finished up our chapter book, ‘Cam Jansen and the Chocolate Fudge Mystery’. Each day we read two chapters and before we would start reading, we’d go over what happened in the story the day prior.
Social Studies: K.1.5 Explain that calendars are used to represent days of the week and months of the year.
I found this article today that describes an authentic, meaningful learning experience that looked different for each child. What one child sees may be completely different than what another child sees.
“Now it was a game. Several kids followed suit, some struggling with the names of the three-dimensional shapes. Then Elana took her place, feeling silly, “Wood, basket, lego, block, box, block, ring.”
