Good Afternoon!
The kindergarteners sign in this morning revolved around their neighborhoods and what they see on a regular basis. This theme extended on into our K group where we read, ‘Strictly No Elephants’ which is a book about a boy who has a pet elephant. They are left out of a ‘pet party’ because having an elephant as a pet is viewed as different. The elephant and his owner make up their own group of ‘unique’ pets including a skunk, giraffe, and narwhal!
Afterwards, we each shared the type of home we live in as well as three things we see in our neighborhood! Several of us had similar things we see regularly such as trees, grass, and various animals.
Social Studies: K.3.6 Identify and compare similarities and differences in families, classmates, neighbors and neighborhoods, and ethnic and cultural groups.
In PREK2, children continued to share similarities and differences between their peers. Today, they shared whether or not they have a stuffed animal friend at home!
