Good Afternoon!
After reading, ‘Leonardo the Terrible Monster’ in K group, I introduced syllables using two different methods: the ‘hand under the chin’ method and the clapping method. Today, we focused on our names and how many syllables each name has. I went first.
We tested out the clapping method first, followed by the chin method! We clapped Min-dy (2 claps) which means that my name has two syllables. For the chin method, children placed a hand on their chin and said my name aloud. They found out that their chin moved twice. We went on down the list and everyone found out how many syllables are in their name.
Possible dinner/bedtime conversation: I challenged all of the K kids to figure out how many syllables are in the names of their family members!
K.RF.3.2: Orally segment words into syllables.
In PREK2, each child took a turn drawing a line from an uppercase letter to its lowercase match!
There were tons of creations that were done in our indoor space AND our outside environment. Our imaginations have been so vibrant lately!
Things we heard at lunch:
“Ah thank you for making corn on the cob! It’s the best!”
“I want a second!” (from multiple kids)
“Oh she didn’t eat all of hers…can I finish it?” (the answer to that would be no!
)
As you can tell, children were ELATED that we had corn on the cob for lunch today!
Breakfast– Corn Chex and banana.
Lunch– Brown rice with shredded chicken, fresh corn on the cob, cherry tomatoes, and fresh oranges/apples/banana.
PM snack– Whole grain crackers and peanuts.
Wee Sprout– Fresh cherry tomatoes.
Have a lovely evening!
