Happy Monday!
We read, ‘Autumn’s First Leaf’ in K group. It revolved around three leaves whose names were Pointy, Phil, and Paige. Throughout the story, Pointy started turning gold first which made Phil and Paige jealous. In the end, all of the leaves ended up gold with orange and red accents.
Afterwards, we talked about three important things that make up a story: characters, setting, and events. Friends were quick to share the three main characters and where the story took place. We chose two specific events that occurred in the story.
We’ll continue to add to our information sheets throughout the week as we read different stories.
K.RL.2.3: Identify important elements of the text (e.g., characters, settings, or events).
In PREK2, children also talked about characters, events, and setting after reading, ‘Clifford’s Halloween’. They worked together to identify these three important aspects of a story!
Since it’s almost October, we decided to get out our fall decoration bins! Children loved exploring the Halloween manipulatives at the circle table and wearing witch hats in the housekeeping area.
