Good Afternoon!
Today we read, ‘Pigs!’ in K group. We made sure to pay extra attention when the author introduced new characters into the equation. Once the story was over, we were quick to share who the characters were and where the story took place also known as the setting! Friends worked together to come up with two events that occurred in the story.
We also identified the beginning of the story and the end of the story.
K.RL.2.3: Identify important elements of the text (e.g., characters, settings, or events).
In PREK2, children worked with the terms ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’. Each friend was handed two groups of bears and they had to determine which group was the greater number.
Friends explored a spooky activity at the art table! Children used a spider with yarn attached and white paint to create their own spider web! Conversations that were had:
1. How spiders make their webs—a common answer was silk!
2. Halloween (because spider webs are spooky!)
3. Spiders and bats which turned into a conversation about nocturnal animals!
What a beautiful morning! With a slight chill in the air, friends raced outside to explore the outdoors.
Breakfast– Kix and fresh strawberries.
Lunch– Hummus on whole wheat tortilla, fresh cantaloupe, and fresh peppers/cherry tomatoes.
PM snack– Whole wheat english muffins with peanut butter and block cheddar cheese.
Wee Sprout– Fresh cherry tomatoes/peppers.
Have a wonderful evening.
