Good Afternoon!
In K group, we read, ‘My Apron’ by Eric Carle. Before we started reading, I read a sentence that was on the front cover stating that the story was from Eric’s real life and immediately, friends shared, “That’s a non fiction story!”
As we finished up the story, we moved into singular and plural nouns. I read the sentence aloud with two different options for the noun. For example:
“I have two dog/dogs at home.”
Children worked together to determine which word made sense. We chose the word that completed the sentence and tapped it in the blank spot.
K.W.6.1a: Nouns/Pronouns- Writing sentences that include singular and/or plural nouns (e.g., dog/dogs, cat/cats).
In PREK2, children drew a line matching an illustration to the correct number. For instance, Evie drew a line from an illustration with four circles to the number 4.
“What we want is to see the child in pursuit of knowledge, and not knowledge in pursuit of the child.”
-George Bernard Shaw
