Happy December!

We continued to read ‘Here and There’ today which is a non fiction book about different customs and beliefs in various countries. During K group, we learned how countries view food and specifically, how school children eat their lunch and what they eat!

We learned that in one country, children are offered 3 to 4 courses at lunch! Friends eyes lit up when I read this part Smile.

When we talked about a specific country, we pulled out the world map and identified where that country is on the map compared to the United States.

Social Studies: K.3.2 Identify maps and gloves as ways of representing Earth and understand differences between a map/globe.

We are a few months into our school year and our PREK2 friends are really getting into the rhythm of journaling. Not only are they working on their letters and various aspects of language everyday in an authentic way but they’re able to match their drawings to the words they write at the bottom for their description.

One of our favorite holiday stories is Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. Today, friends used a variety of materials to make their own gingerbread house! This art activity really put our fine motor skills to the test. We used glitter glue to glue the materials down so children had to squeeze the glitter glue out onto their house which took some effort! Then, after they chose their materials, they glued them onto the house which required concentration since the materials were rather small! Every gingerbread house looks unique and special!
