Happy Friday!
Today, we celebrated James’ birthday: he’s three! We are so happy that we were able to celebrate his birthday with him!
Our six kindergarteners have time in the morning to sign in. It’s a great time for activities specific to each child’s developmental level. Today, we focused on animals and sorting them into the correct category: house, zoo, and farm There were several animals that could’ve went into two categories such as turtle (I shared that I had a pet turtle when I was little) and bird. Children were very descriptive when it came to defending their position to put the turkey in the farm as opposed to the zoo, for example.
K.RV.2.2: Identify and sort pictures of objects into categories (e.g., colors, shapes, opposites).
A fine motor activity was put out this morning. Children used tongs to sort black and white beans. Most children decided to sort them into groups based on the color of the bean.
Breakfast– Brown rice cakes with peanut butter and fresh pears.
Lunch– Ham and cream cheese rollups, sliced cheddar cheese, whole wheat flatbread, fresh apples/oranges, and fresh snap peas/carrots.
PM snack– James’ birthday treat: tortilla chips and guacamole.
Wee Sprout– Fresh carrots/snap peas.
Have a wonderful weekend!
