Good Afternoon!

In K group, we read ‘The Paperboy’ which sparked a conversation about the way in which adults get money. I asked how adults get money to buy things they need and want: “Their jobs!” a friend shared. We talked about the various jobs that people and child can do to earn money. After we read the story, friends shared things that the main character may buy with his paper route money (toys and food being the most popular!).

Kindergarteners completed a simple sign in that required them to draw lines from the coin to the coin name. Most children noticed the difference in color between a penny and the rest of the coins.

Social Studies: K.4.1 Explain that people work to earn money to buy the things they want. Introduce money names and values.

Our newest fine motor activity was placed on the circle table for the welcome activity. Two wooden rainbow shapes were placed on trays with wooden tongs and various colored felt balls. Children used the tongs to place the felt balls onto the rainbow, often implementing some sort of pattern.
