Happy Monday!

This week’s focus will be on calendars: why we use them, what we can find on a calendar, and the terms that we use.

For sign in, children answered the question: ‘Why do we use a calendar?’

We continued this conversation into K group as we read, ‘A Child’s Calendar’ which focuses on the twelve months of the year. On each page, one month is the focus. Illustrations and words tell what the month is filled with. For example, in July, fireworks and celebrating America were the main event!

Social Studies: K.1.5 Explain that calendars are used to represent days of the week and months of the year.

In PREK2, children read and chatted about cicadas! They identified the life cycle of a cicada and dove into each stage a little bit.

Children got their sensory fix this morning in the sandbox! Right as we headed outside, the sandbox immediately became full of friends chatting with one another about what to make. My personal favorite? Sand ice cream!

There were several children who were hunting for bugs. Using a bug jar, they placed the bugs into the jar. Millie and James quickly realized that the bugs needed food so they went around the yard looking for weeds for their bugs to eat. Not only did they keep their bugs fed but our yard now has much less weeds .

Breakfast– Whole wheat toast with butter and fresh apples.

Lunch– Whole wheat pasta with marinara sauce and shredded cheese, fresh oranges/apples, and fresh carrots/snap peas.

PM snack– Whole milk yogurt with fresh strawberries.

Wee Sprout– Fresh carrots/broccoli.
