Good Afternoon!
Mack and Evie focused on sorting books by the author’s last name, just like librarians do! First, we talked about how books are sorted at the library and using that knowledge, they decided which book came first, middle, and last depending on the first letter of the authors last name.
K.1.19: Learn and apply knowledge of alphabetical order (first letter) when using a classroom or school library/media center. (2006 standard)
In K/PREK1 group, we filled in five sentences with the correct noun based on the context clues in each sentence. For example, the first sentence read, ‘There are three red ________ on the table.’ Mack had to choose is the word should be crayon or crayons. Each group member was assigned two sentences and when they chose the word to fill in the blank, they came up to the black board to tape the word into place. Once all of the sentences were complete, we went back and looked to see if we could find a pattern.
We noticed that all of the sentences that had a number word more than one had an ‘s’ on the end of the noun while the sentences that had ‘a’ before the noun didn’t need an ‘s’ because it meant ‘one’.
K.W.6.1a: Nouns/Pronouns- Writing sentences that include singular and/or plural nouns (e.g., dog/dogs, cat/cats).
In PREK2 group, children went fishing! They were asked to find a specific letter, mostly a letter that they’re familiar with such as the first letter of their name.
We started an art project for the reading area wall display! It’ll be a multi step project and today’s step was choosing nature materials to glue onto their individual canvas. We can’t wait to hang these up in our classroom!
It was quite a chilly day but we managed to get outside in the morning and afternoon!
Breakfast– Kix and fresh oranges.
Lunch– Melted shredded cheese on whole wheat tortilla, fresh pineapple, and fresh broccoli/carrots/cucumber.
PM snack– Whole wheat english muffins with peanut butter and string cheese.

Have a wonderful night!
