Good Afternoon!
We read, ‘Same, Same, But Different’ in K/PREK1. It’s a book from our MACK collection. The book revolves around two boys who live in completely different parts of the world. While they are very different, there are similarities to how they live their life, what they eat, and the things that surround them. Children loved comparing and contrasting the two main characters throughout the story.
Afterwards, each child chose one notecard out of my hand. We read the notecards aloud. I read one sentence at a time where the noun was missing. They used context clues in the sentence to see who’s word fit in the blank. They each got the opportunity to come to the board and tape their word into the missing space.
K.W.6.1a: Nouns/Pronouns– Writing sentences that include singular and/or plural nouns (e.g., dog/dogs, cat/cats).
When the breakfast table was cleaned off, the art table QUICKLY became full (it’s quite the transition period!). Evie focused intently as she used a sketch book to aid in her drawings. Crayons and markers covered our papers that made their way into children’s cubbies! The class was very productive today!
Millie asked to paint at the art easel and James quickly joined her. They have been loving the water color option at the easel (as opposed to tempera!).
A few friends camped out at the island where they explored various games. James attempted ka-noodle for the first time today while Daniel asked Rowan if she’d want to play war which is one of our favorite card games.
We have gotten spoiled this week with the weather considering it’s only mid March! By the end of our morning outside time, friends were taking off their jackets—it was so nice!
Breakfast– Toasted oatmeal squares and banana.
Lunch– Brown rice with shredded turkey, fresh oranges/banana, and fresh snap peas/cucumber/cherry tomatoes.
PM snack– Whole wheat crackers with hummus.
Wee Sprout– Fresh cucumber/snap peas.
Have a wonderful evening!
-Mindy
