Good Afternoon!
The building continued today! We had a ship/raft made of notch blocks floating around the habitrail rug, an elaborate rail way system and a ferry complete with seating for unicorns. Vivid imaginations were flying free in the building area today!
We set up a couple of trays this morning to encourage exploration of numbers and letters. Several friends enjoyed using them this way, but some had other ideas. One of our younger friends decided that the number tray reminded her most of a rice cake preparation kit and got to work making rice cakes with several topping options. She served them to friends who also enjoyed the inventive twist on a counting tray! All of the above uses are exactly what these trays are set up for :).
Our big kids have been creating some amazing journals with complex drawings and lots of kid spelling. It’s clear that they are in that headspace because they spend lots of their free time in the art center creating projects that involve writing letters!
PREK2: Today during group time we practiced some midline cross exercises which helps to foster the integration of both hemispheres of the brain. We read the story “The Jacket I Wear” since we are working on putting on winter gear ourselves. We talked about putting our snow pants on first and out mittens on last. At the end of the story we picked our favorite winter gear to wear. Some of us picked several items!
Breakfast: Kix cereal with fresh orange slices.
Lunch: Peanut butter on whole wheat bread with fresh pineapple/oranges, and fresh peppers/cucumbers.
PM Snack: Whole wheat bagel with cream cheese.
Wee Sprouts: Fresh carrots and cucumbers.
