Good Afternoon!

We focused on animals that live in water today for our PREK1 sign in! We created a collective drawing where friends added animals such as a turtle, narwhal, fish, and shark!

Later on in group, we talked about ‘life cycles’ of plants and animals. We compared the two as we read ‘The Lifecycle of a Sunflower’ and ‘The Lifecycle of a Ladybug’. Kids were quick to raise their hand, sharing something that they knew about ladybugs or a comment they had about an illustration!

This morning, we offered an imaginative play activity for kids to explore ocean animals.  Kids used shells to build boats, islands, and houses.  Others collected shells with nets.  Kids tried noticing which shells were alike and grouping them as they played.  We also talked about how shells are actually made by animals even though many kids viewed them as plants. 

Kids were hard a work on many independent projects in the art center.  Some kids worked on spelling and writing while others created interesting shape collages.

Outside, several kids were interested in collecting seeds.  They found pine cones and maple seeds that had fallen from the trees during the wind storm yesterday afternoon.  Kids were able to group the seeds that were the same.  We talked about which kind of tree each seed had come from.

Breakfast: Toasted oatmeal squares with fresh blackberries.

Lunch: Peanut butter on whole wheat tortilla, block cheddar cheese, fresh peppers/snap peas and fresh pineapple/banana/pears.

PM Snack: Fresh baked blueberry/banana muffins and string cheese.

Wee Sprouts: Fresh cucumbers/peppers.
