Good Afternoon!
This morning we introduced two tadpoles to the science area. Our kids got a chance to observe them and talk about what they saw. Next, we offered an observational drawing activity. The kids were invited to look closely at the tadpoles and their environment and then try to draw what they saw. Kids were encouraged to describe the tadpoles. Some kids noticed the colors brown and black. Others noticed that their mouths were moving. One friend said their head is the shape of a circle and another added their tails are the shapes of triangles. After using descriptive words, it was easier for the kids to decide how to draw what they saw.
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures from our day!
PREK2: During group we read the story “A Wood Frog’s Life”. We each took a turn describing what the tadpoles we saw this morning. Here are a few of the things kids recalled: “its mouth opens and closes like this”, “its head is a circle” “The tadpole is brown”. We practiced a yoga pose where we sit like a frog, which everyone enjoyed.
