Happy Monday!
**Reminder: Wee Friends is closed Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day.
Today, we started exploring community helpers and the tools they need to do their jobs correctly. Each PREK1 friend came up to the board where they chose a piece of paper with a community helper written on it. They read the helper aloud and matched it to the tool that the helper needs to do their job. A few friends were able to read their community helpers name and find the tool on the board by sounding out the words!
Social Studies: K.4.2 Identify and describe different kinds of jobs that people do and the tools they use.
This morning, we explored some loose parts building materials. Kids enjoyed creating a variety of inventions as they tinkered with different ways to put the pieces together. A couple of the inventions kids shared were a “paint sprayer with a holder”, a “bell instrument”, a dinning table and a “hammer”.
These two friends worked at the art center all morning strengthening their visual/spacial, language arts, and fine motor stills through play. First, they chose to draw pictures that looked the same. They had to look carefully at the details of how to draw one another’s images. Next, they worked together to write out the entire alphabet in “rainbow letters”. They talked back and forth about the letter sounds as they made their letters. It’s great to see kids hard at work learning with no teacher direction at all!
We spent much of the morning outside moving our bodies, creating imaginative play schemes and building bonds with friends.
Breakfast: Whole wheat toast with cream cheese and fresh plums.
Lunch: Whole wheat pasta with marinara, mozzarella cheese, fresh watermelon/banana and fresh cucumbers/peppers.
PM Snack: Whole milk yogurt with granola.
Wee Sprouts: Fresh pea pods/peppers.
Have a great day!
