Good Afternoon!
PREK1 group friends came up to the sign in board this morning as they were asked to identify the two weekend days! Friends quickly replied with the correct answer. We talk about calendar everyday in group as we have a developmentally appropriate calendar exercise we do before heading to the journal table. Each week, one group member is assigned the ‘Mat Guard’ who’s in charge of checking everyone’s mats as well as crossing off the current day on the calendar. As we’re doing this, we say aloud the date such as “Today is Wednesday, May 20th 2026’. We also identify holidays and friends will share birthdays of family members or important holidays in their family!
Social Studies: K.1.5 Explain that calendars are used to represent days of the week and months of the year.
This morning as we were talking about what to put in the sensory bin, a couple of friends mentioned they liked using the pipes in water. As I got out the pieces, kids seemed most interested in all the pieces in the basket. They wanted to explore each one, asked questions about the different kinds and wanted to know what everything was used for. We decided to simply put the baskets of pipes out on the building rug for kids to build with since that’s where the interest was.
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures from our day!
