Good afternoon!

This morning we tried our new “wind science” activity!  This group of kids has a lot of interest in natural forces, from water, to weather to wind.  They have recently shown us their growing interest in wind as they place objects over the air vent when it’s on to see what happens…or when they make kites in the art center, asking to try them outside.  Today, we introduced this wind machine.  The kids experimented with different objects to put inside to see what would happen.  They watched how objects behaved when they manipulated the air, changing its direction.  They loved the pin wheel placed over the top.  It was fun to see how it would interact with objects moving up the tube.  The best part of this activity was how it brought those expressions of wonder and joy kids get when they are excited about learning!

PREK2: During group today we practiced some new yoga poses that challenged our coordination, balance and gross motor skills.  We have been reading the story “What would Danny Do”, a social emotional book that lets kids help Danny make choices about how he deals with a variety of difficult situations.  Kids learn how making safe/kind choices vs unsafe/unkind choices effects Danny’s day.
