Good Afternoon!
We kicked off our week by discussing various places in our community for our PREK1 sign in activity. Children chose from several options and wrote their name under their favorite. We had an overwhelming number of kiddos write their name under the beach and pool!
Later on in PREK1 group, we read a few pages from the ‘Here and There’ book. We specifically read about the outdoors and how it looks in different countries. We talked about countries and cities such as Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, and Hong Kong. We learned that most rural schools in New Zealand are commonly outdoors! One of our friends raised her hand and said, “We are lucky to have so many playgrounds around us!”.
Social Studies: K.3.3 Locate and describe places in the school and community.
This morning, a friend used her kiwi peels to make a square during breakfast, so we set out some shape oriented activities in response. We tried popsicle sticks, tiles and kinetic sand shapes. We always try to create ways that kids can appropriately explore their needs and interests.
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures from our day.
