We kicked off our week by continuing to talk about maps but today, we worked as a team to complete our classroom map! PREK1 kiddos came up to the board, chose a card, and after reading the card aloud, taped it onto the correct space on the map. Several friends just hung out around the board, watching various spaces of our classroom identified on the map!
Social Studies: Create maps 2 dimensionally and 3 dimensionally.
Our older kids got right to work drawing and writing at the art table and throughout our classroom. One of our favorite activities lately across all age ranges is using a clipboard to ask questions amongst their peers! Eliza took a clipboard around this morning and asked her peers what their favorite color was. Not only does this simple, child driven activity help promote literacy in the way of kid spelling but one to one correspondence as children use tally marks or drawings to document answers.
Elsewhere in our classroom, children searched for a space to peak their interest. Various building materials were used all morning long. Charlotte and a friend read a story in the reading area where they identified the shapes they found in the story as well as counting the number of shapes that they saw!
Enjoy a few pictures from our outside time this morning!
