Good afternoon!
This morning we offered a fine motor activity at the round table. Kids that are in the midst of developing more advanced fine motor skills naturally were drawn to the activity. Even though they were the younger group, they stayed with it longest. Often when kids are developing a skill, they tend to be able to sustain a longer attention span which is also great for cognitive development!
At the art center, kids worked on several child lead independent projects. Older kids have learned that if they have an idea, they can ask a teacher to help them find the materials they need to make it. That is what happened today. Some kids wanted to make masks, others made chalk pastel drawings, some made banners and others wanted to use straws to make bracelets. It’s nice to see this variety because it shows that kids are able to use their executive planning and creative thinking skills to formulate their own ideas.
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures from our day!
