Happy Friday!
Today, our two kindergarteners used their hands to create playdough shapes! Using toothpicks and newly made playdough, they created shapes based on the card they were given. They made a triangle, hexagon, pentagon, square, rhombus. and rectangle. We started talking about sides and vertices which we’ll touch on more next week.

Our PREK1 sign in board focused on tracing two dimensional shapes. Each friend came to the board where they found their name, identified their shape, and traced the dots to complete their shape.

This morning, a friend asked if we could do more with mixing paint today. We set up some experiment trays. It started on paper, then someone wanted to paint on the tray and make prints. The project evolved throughout the morning. Next, a couple of older friends, when writing their names on the back of their paper, found that the image transferred. This sparked a new experimental technique. Kids used a pencil to draw on the back of a piece of paper face down in paint. When kids pulled up the paper, they found their drawing had transferred to the back of the paper! Child lead activities tend to evolve as interests grow and change.
Breakfast: Brown rice cakes with cream cheese and fresh orange slices.
Lunch: Peanut butter on whole wheat tortilla, fresh watermelon/kiwi, and fresh cucumber/snap peas.
PM Snack: Goldfish and string cheese.
Wee Sprouts: Fresh carrots/snap peas.
