Good Afternoon!
We continued to focus on comparison words and specifically dealt with identifying hot and cold items. Our two kindergarten students created their own lists of each, adding four items to each group. Student S had a clear idea of what hot items are, adding dessert, beach, oven, and coffee to her list. Sounds like a splendid vacation! ![]()
K.M.1: Make direct comparisons of the length, capacity, weight, and temperature of objects, and recognize which object is shorter, longer, taller, lighter, heavier, warmer, cooler, or holds more.
Our daily journal experience adds so much value to our literacy development! A few children have been really focused on perfecting their drawings of people while one of our friends has been fascinated in drawing various countries flags! Lately, he’s been drawing the Argentina flag but today, he surprised us with the Belgium flag. We love when children’s interests make it to their journal page!
We offered a water displacement experiment this morning. Our kindergartners and older friends have been learning about weight, measurement and making comparisons, so we added a hands-on component. Kids tried making predictions about what they thought might happen if they added stones to a jar of water. We talked about how the stones displaced the water as the water rose in the jar. Kids noticed the bubbled effect of water tension as the water approached overflowing out of the jar, so we got to talk about why this happens. We also tried removing the stones to see about how much volume the stones occupied inside the jar.
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures from our day!
