Good Afternoon!

Our two kindergarteners headed outside where they did a scavenger hunt, searching for their three sentence strips. Six sentence strips were hidden throughout the backyard, three for each child. They brought their strip to the garage where they sorted it into the correct group: exclamation mark, question mark, or period. The ending punctuation mark was missing on their sentence strips so they filled in each space with the correct one. They had a blast running throughout the backyard, helping one another find their sentence strips.

K.W.6.2b: Punctuation– Recognizing and naming end punctuation.

Our PREK1 group friends came to the board where they were asked to sort the items in the array by similarity. One friend was asked to circle the letters, another was asked to circle the shapes, and the other was asked to circle the numbers. They each used a different color marker to group their items.

K.RV.2.2: Identify and sort pictures of objects into categories (e.g. colors, shapes, opposites)

This morning, we carved out class pumpkin.  We removed all of the seeds so we could roast them and taste fresh baked pumpkin seeds during snack time.  Everyone was excited to get a turn to pull the seeds out of the pumpkin, although some ended up enjoying their turn more than others Smile.

Several kids enjoyed some Halloween colors to paint with in a variety of ways at the art center.

PREK2: During group, we read “The Pumpkin Patch” which explained how pumpkins were grown and sold on farms.  The kids practiced their recall as they tried remembering something they learned in the story.
