Good Afternoon!

Our kindergarteners were asked to look at arrays and see how many items were in each array without counting. We used our addition skills to complete this task! Each child realized that if two rows have three items in each, the total would be six! They were also asked to write the number next to the array. Student A chose to write out the number word while Student S wrote the number—both were correct! Smile

K.NS.6: Recognize sets of 1 to 10 objects in patterned arrangements and tell how many without counting.

PREK1 friends came to the sign in board where they had to determine whether a singular or plural noun completed their sentence. We talked about how singular nouns are used when talking about one thing while plural nouns are used for two or more things.

K.W.6.1a: Nouns/pronouns– Writing sentences that include singular and/or plural nouns (e.g. dog/dogs, cat/cats).

Our big kids started their paper mâché solar system project this morning.  We blew up balloons of different sizes to represent Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. Luckily, younger kids wanted to help, so the big kids had some extra hands!  We will make the rest of the planets tomorrow.  Jupiter was quite time consuming Smile.  One friend made a drawing of the “red planet (Mars) after she was done helping with the project.

This morning we set up an aquarium building project for kids that have been interested in the aquarium.  They used clear bins to add plants, rocks shells, fish and water to their make believe aquariums.
