This morning we happily engaged in the sensory table.

This activity enhances our fine motor, sensory, color recognition and hand-eye coordination skills. This is one of our favorite activities to engage in. Smile

Breakfast: Whole wheat peanut butter toast with oranges.

Lunch: Whole wheat pasta with butter and shredded chicken, carrots and watermelon.

Snack: Whole milk yogurt with granola.

Happy Friday!

It’s Graduation Day!!

Penny, Grady, and David graduated kindergarten today! They have all been a part of Wee Friends for several years. We’ve been able to witness their personalities grow, form deep and meaningful friendships, and blossom into the individuals they are today.

Today is Penny’s last day and while we get to keep David and Grady a few extra weeks, the classroom will miss their energy and charisma SO much!

When asked, these are the thoughts they have about this transition coming up:

Grady: “In the winter, you can bring sleds to my new school!”

Penny: “I’m excited to go to school with my friend!”

David: “I’m excited for winter feast because you get prizes!”

‘Excited’ and ‘ready’ are two themes that are flowing through these three friends Smile.

Good Afternoon!

Our ability to explore various activities for a longer period of time was very evident this morning as friends chose or asked for a certain activity and explored or extended that activity until we went outside.

Franklin chose to build a train track and this lasted the entire morning! A few friends helped here and there but he built the majority of it, having to move different pieces around because they weren’t working the way he was envisioning.

A few card games were going on at the island: Go Fish is a favorite of ours lately!

While we definitely ran off some energy once we got outside, we were also able to soak up with vitamin D and fresh air to help us calm our bodies. There have been a few children who have shown interest in yoga and different yoga poses. We tried a few poses outside to practice our breathing and balance!

Lunch– Brown rice with shredded chicken and cheese, fresh oranges/apples, and fresh green beans.

PM snack– Whole wheat crackers with peanut butters and raisins.

Good afternoon.

We went outside to not only get some fresh air but to have some fun engaging in our dot markers. We LOVED dotting our papers full of vibrant colors.

We then enjoyed some time engaged in gross motor activities. The slides and teeter-totters are always a great way to get our bodies going.

Lunch: Farm fresh scrambled eggs,  whole wheat toast, tomatoes and pears.

Snack: Whole wheat Ritz crackers and cream cheese.

Good Afternoon!

A few older friends have been created books at the art table this week. They make illustrations on several pieces of paper, add words that they know how to spell or sound out, and staple their finished product together!

When older peers are doing an activity like this, our younger kids pick up easily on what they’re doing and saying, often repeating something that they’ve heard.

The weather this morning was absolutely PERFECT! Children explored with chalk, adding art all over the yard while others chose to dig in different parts of the outdoor environment.

Ellie engaged nicely in puzzles this morning. This puzzle style is the next level in development and Ellie is doing very well. Smile The train puzzle (pictured) is her favorite.

Happy Monday!

We had a new friend join our classroom today—Maggie fit right in and was off exploring right away! We are so excited to have Maggie and her family here!

Our morning was buzzing with excitement, constant chatter, and friends diving into different activities.

While friends drew and created their own books at the art table, others were at the circle table taking turns with the math manipulative boxes. Our favorite today was the box where children work on their one to one correspondence skills. Each card has ten flowers, ranging from flowers with one petal to ten petals. On each flower, friends have to put the corresponding counters on each flower. Some older peers even added in patterns to their towers.

It was an absolutely gorgeous morning! There was a whole lot of digging going on—digging for bugs and digging in the rock area where friends worked together to dig a big hole!
