Happy Friday!

DSCN2124DSCN2125

We had a couple of weddings today! Franklin asked to wear the bride dress up clothes complete with white dress shoes. Chloe dressed up in a pink sequin skirt. They asked Ms. Kim to play the wedding march as they walked down the aisle. Sophia was the “flower” girl. She tossed out colorful handkerchiefs. Afterwards, they asked to have the Paw Patrol theme song play during their reception.

Happy Hot Friday!

“Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them leaves an impression. ~Dr. Hiam Ginnot

Today we engaged in multiple types of puzzles.

Daniel was very curious to learn more letters, so he chose the alphabet puzzle. Together we spelled out his name and Miss Marty’s name and found other words that start with the letters he chose. For instance, M also can stand for Mommy, Manga, (his grandma) monster… etc. We then spelled out his name and when we got to the letter E in his name, he tells me, “E is for Evie!” What an awesome and fun way to learn more letters. Smile

Happy Rainy Thursday.

“It is a happy talent to know how to play.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thursday’s are always a treat! Miss Annastecia is a huge hit with all of our Wee Wee Friends. Daniel got a huge smile on his face and asked, “Stecia, will you read teacher books?” Miss Annastecia was more than happy to read. Smile Thank you Stecia.

Friends then decided later on in the day it would be fun to get their bodies in gross motor action. Zoe got the stepping circles out for her and friends to step and jump on.

This activity is also a sensory activity. The circles all have different textures on them that make our feet feel all different kinds of sensations.

Good Afternoon.

“Every child is gifted. They just unwrap their packages at different times.” ~ Unknown

I really love the quote I chose for today.

What this quote brings to my mind… is happiness, that it’s okay to be different and to do things differently and at different speeds and that you are an individual being the BEST you… you can be! Smile Embrace and love ALL differences each child brings to your world.

Please enjoy all the wonderful pictures and differences each picture brings.

Good Afternoon!

We welcomed Miss Colleen into our classroom today as she lead a yoga session. Children had the option to come to the carpet but within five minutes, all of our friends were participating.

One of the first activities children participated in was saying their name, age, and something that makes them happy once it was their turn.

DSCN1935DSCN1940

Children followed directions and moved their bodies in a specific manor. Miss Colleen read us a story about how different animals move. After the story was complete, children pretended to be certain animals by doing a specific pose and the corresponding noises.

DSCN1953DSCN1957

Towards the end, each child got a stuffed animal that they balanced on their head. This was challenging as not only did they have to balance it but also practice deep breathing. A collapsible ball made its round throughout the group and when the ball when out and in, children mimicked their breathing to match the balls movement.

Once Miss Colleen was done, several friends requested her to keep going! We didn’t want it to end!

Below is a short article about yoga and how it’s beneficial for children! Smile

Good Afternoon.

“Children will listen to you after they feel listened to.” ~Jane Nelson

We want to send out a huge congratulations to one of our WWF families for giving birth to a happy, healthy bouncing baby girl!

Today we engaged our minds in water play, as we weren’t quite sure we were going to make it outside. We used our hands to play with two cups, sponges, dishes and of course the BEST part… WATER!!!

We did make it outside after all. We all had a great time too. Thank you rain for staying away. Smile

Breakfast: Whole grain Cheerios and apples.

Lunch: Whole wheat/grain flatbread with hummus, fresh tomatoes and fresh strawberries.

Snack: Whole wheat bagels with peanut butter/cream cheese.

Happy Monday!

“The future belongs to the curious. The ones who are not afraid to try it, explore it, poke at it, question it, and turn it inside out.”

We (and I’m sure parents are too!) asked several questions throughout a given day. These questions can range from “What time is it?” to “Why do people die?”—the range is wide. I came across this Teacher Tom article that was recently posted about telling kids the truth, even if it’s scary. While I don’t agree with everything he said, I silently applauded a few of his statements and thoughts:

“I hadn’t told her about it, I thought, because I hadn’t wanted her to be afraid. And now not only was she afraid three years removed, but feeling betrayed by her own father. I’m just glad she had the fortitude or courage or whatever it was to call me on it. I don’t want to ever again be in that position, not with my child, my wife, or anyone for that matter.”—in reference to 9/11.

“I’m not saying that we should, unsolicited, lay out the whole unvarnished horrible mess before them, if only because we don’t need to. It will reveal itself to them soon enough. Our job is neither to distract their gaze nor draw their attention to it. It is rather, out of our love for them, to answer their questions, to speak the truth as we know it, and to say, “I don’t know,” when that’s the truth.”

Majority of the time, children are much more aware of things going on around them and in the world than they lead on. “What anchors our children is not a sense that the world is perfect. They already know it isn’t.”
