Good Afternoon!

The art easel was opened this morning. Many friends took turns painting at the easel using a variety of colors as well as strokes. A couple children used vertical strokes to cover their paper while others chose to paint in a circular motion.

Our creative juices were flowing as children built using different materials while the art table was buzzing with excitement. Lately, our older friends have been starting a project at the art table that will last a couple days, often adding onto their original creation.

When we headed outside, a group gathered in the garden to pick vegetables that were ready to eat. We gathered kale, cherry tomatoes, green beans, and plums from our plum tree! Friends got to enjoy the fresh veg and fruit at lunch!

We’ve been keeping up with the garden all summer long. Children love to collect the veggies when they’re ready and truly LOVE eating them. Our Wee Sprouts offer children vegetables daily so they don’t think twice about eating them. On most days, our Wee Sprouts are gone before lunchtime!

Later this week, we may do something different with the kale… Smile.

We decided to head out right after breakfast for our outside time to enjoy the weather.

We watched as the Gordon’s delivery truck showed up with some of our food.

We drove our construction machines and used our pails and shovels in the rocks to dig big holes. We then moved over into the sandbox to continue our digging. We were exploring the different textures with our building between the sand and rocks.

We worked on our fine motor skills using different mediums with our chalk and markers. We used the chalkboard, paper and sidewalk for our drawings.

Good Afternoon!

Our Monday looked a little something like this:

Friends interacted with the welcome activity where they took colored gems and traced various lines. A few children even brought patterns into the activity by alternating colors.

Before moving one of our fish over to the Wee Wee fish tank, we observed him and a couple friends decided to draw a picture of the fish!

Good Afternoon!

**NOTICE: Starting next Monday, Wee Friends will integrate nuts into our food menu. If you have any questions, please see a teacher.

Today, we celebrated Rosemary’s last day at Wee Friends. She’s starting a new journey and we’re so going to miss her. We wish her and her family nothing but the best!

It was such a gorgeous morning that we walked to Nuner Primary to explore their playgrounds! As we walked, we made sure to pay attention to our surroundings and traffic. The group did an EXCELLENT job and enjoyed the scenery.

DSCN3125DSCN3128

When we first got to Nuner, we all explored the smaller playground. The slide was by far our favorite thing as we also explored the balance beams.

DSCN3137DSCN3140DSCN3153

We headed down to the bigger playground but first we stopped to have our Wee Sprout snack. Children ate cucumbers and had many cups of water to stay hydrated.

DSCN3189DSCN3190

Once we got to the big playground, we listened to a few rules that friends would have to follow to keep their bodies safe. We did a great job listening which made for a terrific time!

We pushed our limits; went outside of our comfort zone; and ultimately had a BLAST!

DSCN3218DSCN3222DSCN3245

We started our trek back to Wee Friends. As we came up to the corner, we stopped to see the bell that we hear at noon everyday which we like to think of as our ‘lunch’ bell.

WEE had a lovely day exploring our neighborhood as well as our gross motor limits Smile.

Good Afternoon!

The welcome activity focused on fine motor skill development. Children used various hammers to hammer golf tee’s into a styrofoam block. Once the foam block had a lot of golf tee’s, friends worked at pulling the golf tee’s back out.

DSCN3049DSCN3055

The activity allowed for friends to work by themselves or with a group or their peers.

DSCN3057DSCN3061

We put on music this morning as friends asked for several songs including ‘the Hokey Pokey’, ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes’, and ‘If You’re Happy and You Know It’. Friends opened up their ears as they listened to the directions in each song.

Children ask for music quite a lot. Usually, while listening to the music, we’ll pay attention to the beat or rhythm or add instruments into our play. Friends usually notice music that they’ve heard before. Today at naptime, we turned on music and many friends shouted out, “This is a night song!” It has a deep drum in it and they associate that sound with night.

I’ve attached an article that goes into depth about the importance of music early on in life.

Our friends played with Interstar Links this morning. They are construction toys that can be fit together in many different ways. Our friends built creative structures that fueled their imaginations. A few of the things they said they built were a bulldozer, helicopter, and airplane!
