Hello!

We had a fantastic day.

The habitrail and music rug were full of various building materials. Lulu and Maddie constructed a three dimensional zoo full of a multitude of animals.

YESTERDAY’S BLOG:

Happy March!

Our welcome activity focused on short and long lines. Friends used gems to trace the lines while talking about the similarities and differences of each line.

DSCN1858DSCN1868DSCN1874

Several friends requested to paint so we opened up the art easel this morning. Some of our older friends used two primary colors to make a secondary color. For example, a friend used blue and red to make purple!

DSCN1883DSCN1885DSCN1901

We’re continuing to explore the magnets in the sensory bin. There are various kinds of magnets and many different things we can do with them. Maddie used the fishing pole to pick up small magnets while Jackson used the triangle and square magnets to create a house.

DSCN1884DSCN1889

Rosemary worked with magnets as well but in a different context. The magnetic activity that is available in the science area allows for friends to build using the straight magnets as well as the circular balls.

DSCN1905

In large group, we read ‘Stormy Night’. Before we read the story, we talked about the storm that went through last night. Using our own experiences and background knowledge, we predicted what the story would be about. Friends came up with many words that they thought they’d hear throughout the book. We were right on with our predictions!

K.RL.2.4: Make predictions about what will happen in a story.

Good Afternoon!

In large group, we read ‘The Rain Came Down’. After reading the story, we discussed the difference between hot and cold. Various words or phrases were given and we put them in the correct category. We looked at the words and sounded them out together. Lulu shouted, “I know how to spell ‘sun’—S U N.” Tate reiterated and spelled SUN as well!

K.M.1: Make direct comparisons of the length, capacity, weight, and temperature of objects, and recognize which object is shorter, longer, taller, lighter, heavier, warmer, cooler, or holds more.

DSCN1845

Our table top activity to start out the morning was pipe cleaners and small pieces of straws. We worked using our fine motor skills to create something that interested us.

DSCN1790DSCN1792fDSCN1795

We placed a variety of different magnetic items in a sensory bin. The children were busy experimenting with all the different items to see how they stuck to each other.

DSCN1817DSCN1812DSCN1818

There were many building creations happening today. Children were building with the magnatiles to create a space for their animals, while some used the large plastic blocks to create ramps and roads for driving the cars.

Good Afternoon!

Here are the FAB’s for the upcoming week:

K.RL.2.4: Make predictions about what will happen in a story.

K.RL.2.1: With support, ask and answer questions about main topics and key details in a text heard or read.

K.M.1: Make direct comparisons of the length, capacity, weight, and temperature of objects, and recognize which object is shorter, longer, taller, lighter, heavier, warmer, cooler, or holds more.

During various activities this morning, we compared length and weight of different items. Jackson lined the sensory tubes in a row and we used our observation skills to compare and contrast as well as the magnetic instruments.

For large group, we read a story titled, ‘Another Brother’. We discussed the height of each of the brothers as well as guessing which brother weighed the most. At various points throughout the book, we made predictions about what was going to happen next in the story!

DSCN1708DSCN1715

Jackson chose to work at the work bench. Max and Tate looked on as he completed his creation. After writing, his name as well as Tate and Max’s, he decided to paint it with water colors!

DSCN1732DSCN1734DSCN1735

DSCN1737DSCN1738DSCN1741

Anna brought in musical instruments from her home and donated them to Wee Friends! She sat and went through each item that she brought in. As a group, we decided if we should keep it or share it with our Wee Wee Friends! We enjoyed experimenting with the different instruments.

DSCN1677DSCN1678DSCN1687

The art table was open for children to color shamrocks that will be added to our green chain that we made last week!

DSCN1694DSCN1696

We had a great Monday! We hope you did too!

DSCN1700

Happy Friday!

A SPECIAL PARENT NOTE:

Miss Tami received ‘the potty duck’ from an acquaintance of hers. He created it and wanted us to test it out! The duck gets full of water and goes pee-pee in the potty. Afterwards, we can push the blue button and it flushes the potty (the water comes out of the bottom). It is geared towards children who are starting the potty training process, but can be used with any child. It has a suction cup on the back and is really meant for the bathtub.

So, after careful consideration and a stellar group meeting, we are going to have potty duck go home with one child every weekend. On Monday, the child who had potty duck will share with the class what they did over the weekend! We will randomly select children and start up the potty duck exploration next weekend! If you have any questions, please ask! Our friends are excited to have a traveling class pet Smile.

Jackson and Addi ended their week by finishing off the last sign in entry. After writing their names, we talked about the first thing they do when they wake up in the morning! Addi goes straight to breakfast while Jackson lays in bed for a little bit before getting up. Once we were done having discussions, we wrote about it!

DSCN1567DSCN1569

In large group, we read a book that Jackson brought in from home titled, ‘What Do You Do With A Tail Like This?’. We used our prediction skills as we predicted what animal part belonged to what animal. After learning what part belonged to what animal, we learned what they use that specific part for. For example, an elephant uses it’s nose to bathe!

Our kid spelling was in high gear as all of our older kids described and wrote about their journal. We’re starting to hear more and more vowel sounds while strengthening the use of our consonants.

DSCN1664DSCN1666

Various building materials were pulled out this morning. Max and a few friends used magnatiles to create with while Jackson used the trio blocks to build his fortress!

DSCN1563DSCN1565

We decluttered our Valentine’s Day décor so we looked ahead on the calendar and found St. Patrick’s Day! Black, white, and green construction paper strips were put on the table. Friends used markers and dot paints to color the strips. After the strips were stamped with our imagination and creativity, we stapled them together to make a chain (with the help of Max)!

DSCN1574DSCN1575DSCN1592

Tada! The finished product.

DSCN1618

With the ups and downs of this winter season, we are so thankful for how much outside time we got this week!

We played with playdough this morning at the kitchen table. Our friends poked holes in it with golf tees and tore pieces off to mold the dough into objects. Friends told us they made snakes, balls, and footballs!

DSCN5507DSCN5488DSCN5493

Then we decorated our leftover shamrocks with the dot paints. Friends stamped bright colors all over the paper.
