Breakfast was whole wheat English muffins with butter and banana. Lunch consisted of whole wheat pasta with chicken, clementine’s, and corn. Afternoon snack was organic whole milk yogurt and clementine’s.

Good Afternoon!

Jackson started his morning off with kindergarten sign in. His brother, Max, saw him signing in and wanted to practice his name too! Miss Melinda helped him with his name and he became as focused as Jackson.
The welcome activity involved rubber heart sorters along with red gems. Friends took the gems and sorted them into the rubber trays. Jackson and Lucy took the gems and sorted them into equal piles, making sure each slot had the same number of gems.
Our younger friends used this activity as a chance to brush up on their one to one correspondence skills, using their finger to count each gem they placed into the tray.
K.NS.7: Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group.
K.NS.10: Separate sets of ten or fewer objects into equal groups.
We were busy creating with magnatiles all morning long! Maddie created a zoo. Inside of her zoo, she stationed a zoo keeper to look after her array of animals.
Jackson was persistent about creating a structure that stood over his container of animals. He worked tirelessly until finally, it stayed! Of course, when our friends are proud of their hard work and accomplishments, they ask for a picture to be taken 
.
During large group, we brought back a beloved friend: TACKY! We love Tacky and his abnormal way of living life! After reading, ‘Tacky Goes To Camp’, we dissected the book by figuring out what characters were apart of the story, where the story took place, and the important events that happened. Each friend raised their hand, sharing an important event to document.

Breakfast– Bagels with butter and oranges.
Lunch– Whole wheat pasta with chicken and melted butter, oranges, and cauliflower/carrots.
PM snack– Raisins and graham crackers.

Today in the Wee Wee Friends world, the children looked at many books.
Friends were busy working on their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination as they placed their puzzle piece in the correct space in their puzzles.
Friends were swinging on the bar and building before climbing on the blocks.
We even had 2 friends dressed in similar patterns.
Breakfast: Whole grain Rice Krispies and blueberries.
Wee Sprouts: Peas.
Lunch: Hummus on whole wheat tortillas, peas and banana.
Afternoon Snack: Goldfish crackers and mozzarella string cheese.

Magna-Tiles and puzzles have been our friends’ top two activities this week. They’re finding new ways to stick the tiles together and friends are eager to try the more advanced puzzles we brought over from next door.
Our friends had a great time dressing up this afternoon. Sophia layered on as many scarves as she could and Mack ran through the room wearing a cape. After trying on all the hats in the basket, our friends decided to get creative with what counts as a hat!
After snack, we relaxed with some stories. Then it was soon back to the gross motor area to play!
Breakfast was Corn Chex and oranges. Wee sprout was corn. Lunch consisted of whole grain brown rice with shredded beef, blueberries, and corn. Afternoon snack was wheat crackers with cream cheese.

Good Afternoon!
The welcome activity this morning was the category game! Within the game, there are multiple category cards. We use these cards to sort various items. For example, there is a refrigerator in the category game. As a group, we determined that it goes in the ‘household’ category. Children talked about the attributes of each object and to what category it belongs.
K.DA.1: Identify, sort, and classify objects by size, number, and other attributes. Identify objects that do not belong to a particular group and explain the reasoning used.
Another game we played was the mystery game. We put a variety of items in the box including animals, cups, and cars. Only using our sense of touch, we felt a specific item within the box before pulling it out to show the whole group. As children felt different items, they used descriptive words such as hard, soft, smooth, bumpy, small, etc. to explain what they were feeling. Based on these descriptive words, they guessed what they were feeling.
The sensory bin was occupied all morning with friends coming and going from the art table as well. Envelopes and labels were used to enhance our creations. One of our friends could be heard saying, “I’m trying to concentrate on my creation.”
In large group, we focused our time on fairytales by reading ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Before we started reading, I told the group that there are many different variations of how fairytales are told. For example, we have two ‘Beauty and the Beast’ versions and they don’t follow the same storyline completely. A friend shared that fairytales aren’t real and they’re made up!
After we read the story, we talked about the characters in the story. The beast was a big topic of conversation as we discussed whether or not there could be a beast in real life. I mentioned that in fairytales, we see characters like this: dragons, dwarves, fairies, and witches.

During journaling, Jackson drew a triangle and said it was the beginning of his house. I mentioned that the Indians used to live in a house like that called a teepee. I pulled up several pictures so that we could see what Indians used to call home. “Is there a fire in there?!”, asked one friend. I explained that it was actually a house for people! Teepee’s are NOT what our houses look like today so it was a challenging concept to grasp 
.
Breakfast– Kashi Blueberry Clusters and blueberries.
Lunch– Organic, brown rice with shredded beef, PPC kiwi/strawberries, and PPC broccoli.
PM snack– Sunflower seeds and whole wheat crackers.

**Friendly Reminder, Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday. If your child would like to bring cards to pass out to their friends, please just have who they are from rather than addressing them to specific children. It is easier to pass them out this way. We have 17 children and 4 teachers. Thank you.
This morning at the table we had an activity as an extension from yesterday. We learned the word categorize, so we had a variety of manipulatives to sort into the correct category.
Since Valentines day is less than a week away, we were busy decorating our bags for the cards from our friends. Ink and heart stamps and valentine’s stickers were available for us to use.
Puzzles have been a popular activity this week. Children have been busy working on their physical, and cognitive skills as they work towards the end goal of completing the puzzle.
In Kindergarten, the FABS for this week are:

After reading the story we discussed the definitions of fiction and non fiction books. We learned that fiction books are stories that describe imaginary events and people. Non- fiction books are books that are based on facts, real events and real people. We concluded that the book we read today was a fiction story.
Breakfast: Malt-o-meal hot cereal and oranges.
Lunch: Scrambled eggs with cheese, whole wheat bread/tortilla, bananas and broccoli.
Afternoon snack: Homemade popcorn with butter and blueberries.
Wee Sprouts: Snap peas.

This morning we decided that since it was raining outside, we would do an experiment using water. We had a sink and float activity available where the children went around the classroom and chose 2 items to test. We made our own hypothesis, then after testing them and saw our results gave our answers whether the items absorbed or repelled the water and sinks or floats. We made a chart of our results.
After doing some of our new favorite songs that Miss Rebekah has taught us, Miss Melinda taught us a new word for today, categorize. She dumped a basket of items on the floor in the habitrail for us to find the items that fit together. We had a category of fruit and silverware to name a few.
Just before lunch we all gathered to listen to the story Boom Chicka-Rock by John Archambault.
Breakfast: Cheerios and bananas.
Lunch: Turkey and cheese on whole wheat tortillas, PPC cucumbers and cherry tomatoes and PPC red grapes.
Afternoon Snack: Cinnamon Raisin whole wheat bagel and cream cheese.
Wee Sprouts: Cherry tomatoes.
