WF Monday 1/4 Happy New Year and Welcome Rosemary!

Welcome back to Wee Friends! We missed you all so much. Hope you had a wonderful holiday season and great start to 2016.

First, we would like to welcome our new friend from next door, Rosemary. She has had a great transition so far, exploring many of WF’s interest areas like the art table and workbench, as well as enjoying our outside time. Our Wee Frienders look forward to more wonderful days learning and growing with Rosemary!

The big highlight of our day was playing outside in the snow!

One look at our friends’ faces show how much joy the snow brings.

DSCN0148DSCN0134

The first thing most friends do when we head out back is taste the snow. Something about that cold, fresh powder is very appealing to preschoolers!

Ice-gathering was also a popular activity. When friends would discover another huge piece of ice, they would shout “Look! Ice!” Older friends often helped the younger friends get large pieces of ice out of buckets, truck beds and the see-saw.

Teamwork was also evident as friends worked together to ride down the hill on sleds. At one point, three friends put their two sleds together to create a “DOUBLE SLED”.

Today is Truman’s last day at Wee Wee.  Although he wasn’t here all that long, in the short time he was here, he was a wonderful addition to our small little Wee Wee family. He and his family are moving to Toronto. We will truly miss his sweet little smile and gleaming personality around here!

Today is also Rosemary’s last day. She is graduating over to Wee Friends! She has grown into such an awesome little girl with many special attributes about her. We will miss having her add to the Wee Wee excitement and fun. She will be on to bigger learning activities and flourish very nicely over in Wee Land.

Anna asked to read many stories today. Her friends thought story time was a great idea, and they all got out books of their own!

Later, Franklin, Truman, and Ruby played with the object permanence boxes together. Franklin loves to toss the coins into the box. He, Ruby, and Truman also think it’s fun to bang them, as well as the Ping-Pong balls, together.

WF 12/16

Today has been a busy day full of writing:

PC160177PC160182PC160179

And playing with animals:

PC160206PC160208

We also brought out some new materials! The bristle blocks have already been used in a variety of creative ways, from buildings to hats.

PC160184PC160172

Outside, friends were treated to a Hoberman sphere! There was much commotion as friends experimented with this folding toy.

PC160243PC160250

How many people can we fit inside this thing?!

PC160256

Friends stretched the sphere out…. and then dropped it! Very cool to watch.

WF Monday 12/14

Although the rainy weather kept us from going outside today, we had a blast keeping busy with inside activities. Building was a very popular choice, as friends used both our large plastic blocks, wood blocks and magna-tiles to create a variety of structures.

PC140030PC140017PC140046

These building creations are often a part of friends’ imaginative play as they create homes and airplanes for their characters to live and play in. Below is Elizabeth and Clara’s “mouse house”:

PC140044

This morning friends were also invited to participate in a seasonal fine motor skill activity: stringing popcorn with a needle and thread! Our older preschoolers and kindergarteners were very focused as they completed this work.

The final product was very long! And looks great on our tree.
