Good afternoon and Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a great weekend.

Friends were happy to be at school today and boy oh boy… so was I!!!! Smile

We all engaged happily coloring in our journal binders today. This activity enhances our fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, (as we take the markers out of their hole and move them onto our paper) as well as our color recognition skills. We LOVE coloring in our binders.

We then had a dance party which also included a couple interactive songs we love to engage in. The Freeze dance and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt are two of our favorites. We crawl, use our tippy toes and jump amongst many other fun movements.

Breakfast: Whole grain Kix cereal and pears.

Lunch: Whole wheat tortilla and shredded cheese, mixed vegetables and cantaloupe.

Snack: Whole wheat English muffins with butter nd cinnamon with cantaloupe.  

Wee Sprouts: Yellow Peppers.

Good Afternoon!

We engaged in a sensory/ painting activity with snow and watercolors.  We first used a scoop to place snow on our papers.  We then used our fine motor skills to squeeze a bottle or spray bottle trigger to spray the colors onto our snow and watch it melt on our papers to create a beautiful watercolor painting.

Breakfast:  Overnight oatmeal with cinnamon and fresh pears.

Lunch:  Farm fresh scrambled eggs, mixed vegetables, fresh pears and clementine oranges.

Afternoon Snack:  Blue corn chips with hummus.

Wee Sprouts:  Orange bell peppers.

Good Afternoon!

In K/PREK1, we read, ‘The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs’. Afterwards, we started talking about community helpers. The three community helpers that children identified were firefighters, police officers, and trash collectors. Children had an open conversation about how each helps us as well as what would happen if we didn’t have that community helper in our community!

Social Studies: K.2.1 Give examples of people who are community helpers (inside the classroom and outside the classroom) and describe how they help us.

In PREK2, children drew lines from a community helper to how the community helper helps us!

There were tons of tracks outside in the snow. Yesterday, friends started hypothesizing what animal made the marks. Today, Miss Kim gave them an animal track guide so they worked together to try and identify which animal made the tracks based on the photos in the guide!

The rubber bands + boards were very popular this morning! There are rubber bands of various sizes so children were trying to figure out how many rungs fit each band.

Today we switched out our Fall sensory bin with corn/black beans and placed our winter, white like snow moon sand in its place.  Friends enjoyed scooping up the sand with a variety of scoops and feeling its texture between their fingers.

A friend pulled out the star stairs and slide mat from under the habi-trail for several friends to enjoy climbing and sliding down.

Happy Monday and Happy New Year!

We were all excited to be back at school this morning! Friends were quick to get into their favorite activities with their peers.

The art table and housekeeping area were bustling with movement. Maggie and a few other friends used glue to attach various materials to their paper!

Our hands were active at many different areas of the house!

Several friends gathered in the science area after each getting a tray. They explored manipulatives including gems and plastic shapes.

Magnatile creations littered the building rug. Mack built a pyramid using only triangles! Children were quick to compliment his end product.

Right before lunch, children requested the light + paperweights. We made sure to use careful hands as the paperweights are very heavy.

We spent the day in our pajamas, spending quality time with one another as we round out 2021.

Good Afternoon!

Miss Annastecia set up a fine motor activity at the island this morning that ended up being a big hit! Several children came to the island to explore the bead activity. Using playdough as a base, friends took beads and placed them onto the wooden sticks.

A few friends chose to implement a pattern on their wooden stick while others chose to keep it strictly based on color, placing all red beads on one stick, all green beads on another stick. and so on.

We tackled the fine motor inside so we decided to focus on the gross motor when we headed outside! The scooters were brought out and friends jumped at the chance to use a scooter. At first, children rode them around the circle path but a few friends quickly decided to challenge themselves by going down the bike hill!
